Was Anyone From Alabama Offended by this Movie???

Come on guys.. we have got to stand up for ourselves.. this movie is an insult to the people of Alabama.. Although I don't deny we do have the "redneck,,white trash, beat up truck driving, beer drinking, baby making "billy bob".. but it definately does not represent the MAJORITY of Alabama. We are very classy, & well educated; and we have not JUST recently discovered recliners! If you do not live in or have never visited our beautiful State .. Please do not judge Alabama by this movie. Granted the hospitality & manners were right on!

I have an aunt who is 58 years old and has lived in New York for 40 years ^^^ she recently moved to Alabama because when she visited every Thanksgiving/Christmas she fell in love with the people and State as a whole. Although she does make fun of our southern accent a little.. I tell her as Jake told Melanie . just because we talk slow doesn't mean we're dumb! ;-)

I'm not exactly sure why anyone would be offended. Obviously just because you live in Alabama doesn't mean you're stupid.
It's just one of those sterotypes. Like when you see a Cop eating a donut and laugh.
Alright, so that wasn't the BEST example. But seriously, its just a stupid movie. Get a grip?
[not meaning to offend people but seriously.]

Why did you go and ruin a perfectly good post by saying "Get a grip?". I hate people like you.

I was wondering how people from Alabama "took this movie". I was sorta offended that she pretended that she was someone else. I loved this movie tho, Patrick Dempsy... hmmmm, that would be a HARD choice. He was a pretty great guy too.... and forgave her for everything. Love that she fell for her soulmate again...

i don't think the movie was insulting alabama i've never been there and this film didn't giv me a negative view of it also it's shown as a very two sided place one side is posh and nice and the other is uneducated and poor.
also the whole message of the film was that melanie had misjudged it i think you need to watch it closer

screws fall out all the time. the worlds an imperfect place!

your an idiot your problley not even from alabama and i am and these is a great movie cuz it shows u that alabama always wins and alabama is the greatest place ever

reply

Dont know why your offended, as a native New Yorker this movie made me wanna move to the south. I really wanna be a friendly town like that, unlike dark and dirty NYC where most people are jerks.

I am from Texas and whenever I go out of state, everyone makes derrogotory remarks about my accent, my saying "yall", and ask if I ride a horse to school. Seroiusly? why dont the Southern states unite and revolt against stereotypes?
