Why is that? Is it really a good recommendation for all of these? Or is it because this movie has so many 'plot keywords' and thus it seems to be similar to all of these movies? If so, does it really need all of those keywords (more than 450)?

...just curious...

Yeah. What the hell is this S H I T about?

Do you think it just might have something to do with the fact that this site is sponsored by Amazon.com?
They just might be overstocked with these DVDs.

Advertising pays for the site so please don't complain about it.

Just stopping by to say that I will never buy or watch Kite because it just irks me seeing it as a recommendation for every single movie on IMDb.

I'm sure no one - least of all the people marketing Kite - cares, but I just had to get that off my chest.

Ah, this takes me back.

For a while, it did seem like Kite was being recommended a lot. Plot keywords probably had more to do with it than anything else. Those things work on algorithms and given that the "Kite Recommendation" phenomenon on IMDB was at its peak in the mid-2000's, I'd wager that it was a technical issue.

Some of the recommendations make perfect sense such as Akira, Kill Bill, Battle Royale, Ichi the Killer, even Taxi Driver, given the plot and visual style of the movie.

I can even accept it as a recommendation for "extreme" films and cult classics such as Caligula or The Hills Have Eyes since Kite was one of those VHS anime flicks that had a decent following back in the late 90's.
