Just started watching Enterprise, the intro shot them in the foot.

I grew up on the original series in the 70s. I watched TNG/Voyager/DS9 when they originally ran. When Enterprise came on, I don't think I was able to get past the opening theme. It is like an 80s song, I don't get it. So never got past the first episode.

Recently I have done a re-watch of TNG/Voyager/DS9 on Netflix since I hadn't watched them since they originally aired. Figured I would give Enterprise a chance.... It is good, but damn I have to fast forward over that opening intro. I wish it had a beautiful theme such as TNG or DS9.

I can't be the only Star Trek fan that just couldn't get past that 80s themed song. WHY WHY WHY did they use that crap.

I never understood the hatred for the theme song from the fans (if online message boards are to be believed). I liked it when the show first aired, and when I re-watched the whole thing years later I couldn't get it out of my head (not in a bad way).

I agree!

People can be such nitpickers. A theme song is a reason the show failed? just wow. I love the theme song but even if I didn't I'd still watch the show to see what it's about, and I'd likely still like it as much as I did.

There's a reason why televisions and every other device that plays shows has a mute button. Use it if something is that much annoying to you.

I am in the minority. I loved the theme song.

There are complaints here that the song reflects humanity too much, that's it's focused on"me, me, me" rather than focused on space exploration.

I tend to disagree. Also, when hasn't Star Trek been human centered? Where is Star Fleet Academy located? San Francisco. Where does the Federation President reside? On Earth.

Where was V'ger headed? Earth

In ST:The Voyage Home, where was the probe headed? Earth.

The first TNG episode takes place at Farpoint Station. Why is it called Farpoint? Probably because it's far from Earth. It's surely closer to other Federation worlds.

Not sure if you're really in the minority. I have a feeling that while most people responding to this thread (an insignificant cross section of all Trek fans) agree with OP, we don't have a consensus by any means.

I also like the theme and it's message. Fits perfectly with the video montage which shows the journey from basic ground transportation to mankind's first tentative steps to the stars.

Is it 80s-based? A bit off topic but I hate it when movies blast some song during the movie when you are trying to listen to the characters and all you hear is the director trying to plug some song you don't care about.
