Muphy upset when Franklin died in , but he was gonna shoot him anyway i
I dont get that scene, Murphy seemed guttered when Franklin was shot and died on the Helicoptor, but wasnt his intentions to shoot him anyway like he did with the rest?

sharefor the same reason he robbed the casino instead of just the money launderer.... I don't think it was his intention. I think that Murphy wouldn't have turned on them all if Hanson hadn't complicated everything.

Murphy: "Do you recognize me now? Because I recognize you."
I think Murphy's ONLY concern was everything going to plan...dead partners, and dumping dead bodies out of helicopters only complicate things.
shareI agree with the above post

I think that Murphy's plan went sour when Franklin died, and he lost it.
"Walker, you resilient bastard!"

I dont think that was their original plan. I think the plan was to get the money and everyone gets their share; and goes their seperate ways when they reached Canada. When the plan went sour he decided to screw the original plan and whack everyone.

Yes, I think you can almost see him coming to a conclusion when they go to bury Hanson. At that point something 'clicked' and he went and shot them. It was a decision made then, not one made before the movie. Additionally, who's to say that the plan wasn't for Franklin and Murphy to team up and kill the others. Maybe they were closer friends than we knew.

Definately not. Murphy wanted everything to go as planed. The minute Slater(cant remember character name at moment) started demanding a cut into franklin;s, and then wanted to skip the lauder', he knew that he had some seriosu problems with his crew.
They made a deal for say, 350,000. Franklin dies and now, they want 500,000. That wasnt part of the plan, and knowing greed might land Murphy back in prison, he figured why not whack them all, (since he cant trust them anymore) and escape by himself.
made total sense to me.

****please put more spoilers in your title posts. thanks. ***
HA! true...
anyway... If everybody had made it out alive, everything would have gone according to the plan, the split would have gone as agreed to and because there was a plan to follow, the crew wouldn't get nervous and start making dumb decisions.
Once Franklin is killed, Murphy knows that not only does he have to get rid of the body, which become evidence, but he will probably have to kill one if not all of his partners, because they'll get antsy, scared, start wanted to change the cut and everything else...and all this comes to fruition. That's why he already had the silencer on his gun so he could shoot him under the table in the motel.
In Murphy's eyes, Franklin dying was like them almost getting away, but getting caught at the last second.
"When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."
Maybe Murphy's history as an Army medic in Vietnam had something to do with his reaction?
shareI had the same thought. Two words: Bad writing.
shareI think Murphy likes killing people. Case in point, why kill the launder's girlfriend in the antique shop.
shareI think Murphy and Franklin were tight, which is why Murphy was upset. The way I figure it is that perhaps Franklin was the calmer of the two and kept Murphy from being his crazy killing everyone self. When Franklin died, Murphy lost both his good friend and the only person in the world able to keep Murphy in check. Thus, Murphy goes nuts when challenged by Hanson and everything goes how you see it.
shareIf one looks at this scene in the context that Murphy plans to kill everyone eventually anyway, he simply ACTS upset over Franklin's death so as to NOT tip-off the other guys. If he hadn't acted upset over Franklin's demise the other guys would probably have suspected something so perhaps he was simply displaying "crocodile tears" to throw the other guys off of his ultimate plan.

I think it wasn't his original plan to whack them all, he wasn't going to do it all out, he was more of a plan stickler, once Franklin dies, he sees his perfect plan ruined and he himself gets affected into deciding to change the plan somehow.
Maybe he decided to take all the money for himself the moment he shot Slater, or maybe he decided to betray the rest once they were getting ready to bury Slater.
Anyways, I think of him as somewhat of a sociopathic with a strange moral code, he didn't see himself as a traitor but he felt he had to do whatever necessary for his survival once things got out of hand in the motel.
Now, I think he seemed so upset because he had prior experience to know that once the plan doesn't work out exactly as intended, things tend to go south and everything can end up really f@cked, and maybe he didn't really liked the idea of whacking the rest of the gang due to this.
now this is acting: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2458172160/tt1528718
I assumed at first he fully intended to stick to the plan (we know he's a stickler for plans), but after Franklin died and then Hanson turned on him at the motel the psycho part of Murphy figured what the hell?
