It's funny you mention Jesse, since nobody else has. I LOVE this movie, i don't really know why, it's just satisfying on a small level, which is good enough to me and i own it on DVD. However, the kid in the movie annoyed the hell out of me. I can't f*#^ing stand it when they put the character of a young child in a movie and give them a personality that is not only unbelievable, but pure irritating. The kid tried SO hard to act like a tough guy and he sure as hell wasn't, and that just urks me when kids who aren't even in their teens or highly intelligent think they're so cool and grown up. I wanted to beat his ass from his first appearance, right up until the shootout in the end. He just kept trying to act like he was cool as Kurt Russell's character and he just came across as a little dork. I don't know, maybe i'm just reading too much into it. Then there was Courteney Cox, who i wanted to beat the hell out of, too. She was hot, and her acting was above par, but her character was just too much of a two-timing bimbo, who after a while, i didn't care if got killed. If i were Kurt Russell's character, i would've gotten as far away from her and her kid as i could. They both were just so untrustworthy. Kurt Russell was his usual cool, "I'm a good-hearted bad guy" self, who pulled off a suave demeanor that made his admirable. Hell, he kinda looks like Elvis more than any of the robbers. Of course i don't have to admit that Kevin Costner was the pure backbone of this movie. If he wasn't in it, it would not have been as appealing as it luckily became. He just played a stone cold psycho so well and he made you laugh more than tremble. I felt bad because Christian Slater, Bokeem Woodbine, David Arquette, and Ice-T didn't have bigger roles. Kevin Pollak, Thomas Haden Church, Howie Long, and Jon Lovitz were given a little more satisfaction, but didn't have much screen time either. The movie was good, but i felt like if the story were a TAD bit different, it might have been a classic. I felt like if Slater and Arquette had bulletproof vests on like Russell, and survived, then it would've been cool if they all seperated and individually went after Costner and the money, trying to out do one another for the loot. Bokeem Woodbine should've survived his gunshot wound and he could've been the most angry of all of them, due to his experience. Ice-T and Howie Long should've hooked up with Costner sooner and then they needed to have a badass showdown between each other and the cops, now that would've been cool. THEN, Slater, Arquette, Woodbine, Ice-T, Long, and Costner could've all kicked the bucket, leaving Russell, Cox, and the annoying kid to make off with the casino money. If i were director, that would've been my movie.
