It is very possible to not cry at this movie if you’ve ever seen another movie like it in your life. My friend and I saw the trailer for this movie and concluded that it is exactly the kind of manipulative, sentimental schmaltz where the child inevitably dies at the end (even though it ultimately serves no purpose whatsoever). And sure enough, that scene arrived, and we both exchanged glances, rolled our eyes, and smirked.
I happily cry (often) at movies that earn my tears, movies with real weight and emotional resonance. Pay It Forward is not one of those movies. It is a pathetic attempt to pull at the heartstrings of people who have seen approximately four other movies in their entire lives.

Formerly TwilightEH - I'd much rather be associated with Big Bang Theory than Twilight!
