Why does Scorcese.......

......... Have such a hard on for DiCaprio? First this, then The Departed, then Shutter Island?
It's not as if he's near the same standard as De Niro.
Personally I just can't take him seriously. Every time I see him, I can only think of his role of Jack in Titanic. It doesn't help that in so many of his roles he has to adopt the peach fuzz on his face to try and give the impression he's reached puberty!

First, because they share some italian heritage, just as with DeNiro
Second, DeNiro always supported DiCaprio, he basically put DiCaprio in the business
Third, DiCaprio is not that bad.

Titanic was a very girly role. That was my first impression of Leo and it stuck for a long time. But then I watched many of his other movies and I quickly reassessed my opinion of him.
Leo is a highly sought after actor who does outstanding performances and Scorcese seems to have a good relationship with him. Why wouldnt he continue to bring him into his movies? If I was a director and had Leo as a definite option in my movie, I certainly wouldnt give that up without a good reason.
