......... Have such a hard on for DiCaprio? First this, then The Departed, then Shutter Island? It's not as if he's near the same standard as De Niro. Personally I just can't take him seriously. Every time I see him, I can only think of his role of Jack in Titanic. It doesn't help that in so many of his roles he has to adopt the peach fuzz on his face to try and give the impression he's reached puberty!
This is one of the stupidest comments I've ever seen. DiCaprio is currently the undisputed best actor out there. I dont blame scorcese for using him in his movies. The fact that you think DiCaprio is a bad actor proves that you obviously don't watch many movies.
I agree with you. You have to take into consideration the fact that Dicaprio has a strong fanboy...but predominantly fangirl following.
Dicaprio doesn’t cut it as a tough guy and still looks like he is in his early 20's and he is either very close to or in his 40's.
Everyone is going on about how great he was in The departed and "Shutter Island". He was good in those films, but nothing fantastic. He did much better work when he was younger, these days he's a pretty boring leading man and cannot play the tough guy role with any kind of believability.
I think he's a good actor but he is not put into the right roles and it's good to see them both move on from each other.
There are some statement here listing him as the greatest actor currently etc, etc, etc. This quite simply isn't true, but fans are always going to be defensive and make grandiose statements.
I think the movies they have done together have proven to be masterpieces, why fix something that isn't broken. Not everyone works well together it is very possible he and Leo are a great match in personality.
I think that suggesting that those films are masterpieces is a bit rich. Goodfellas is a masterpiece, the films he did with Dicaprio don't even come close.
Perfect summation of how I feel about him. I would never suggest he's a bad actor, but he's not great, and certainly not one of the best of his generation. He had the potential to be once, but not anymore.
The roles he picks don't demand a great deal from him in terms of character development.
What the *beep* would you know leishayoung. Your hardly blessed with brains when it comes to these things. I've read your comments on other boards and frankly, you're a little thick.
Just because you bring the baggage of Titanic to the cinema does not mean the rest of us do. DiCaprio is the best actor of his generation. That's why both De Niro and Scorsese cast him in there movies.
