Is it wrong...?

to want to be ugly? or just lack of personal care?

if someone has the potential to be beautiful, but chooses not to....is it wrong?

it seems Gracie didnt want to be beautiful- because u cant be an FBI agent and be beautiful, nooo thats not possible- but then she seems critical and judgemental of beautiful women (scene at the bar)

what does everyone think? do u see people who do not have any form of self interest/personal care and think- why????

I'm sorta one of those people, in that I'm not hughly bothered by what I look like. I mean I wash regularly and everything, its more that I don't really care what I wear. It's just far too much effort. (Also, I don't really have the figure to pull of fashionable clothes). I don't think it's wrong to choose not to be (potentially) beautiful. People can choose what they want to look like. I think for Gracie, her lack of personal care was so that she fit in more with the males FBI agents.

she was critical cause she was a slob and had no idea how to take care of her appearance and thought it was stupid that they did, like most tomboys -_-

"Some of us just prefer to put more effort into things that have real meaning"
"Some people think there are more important things than outward beauty"

There are also some of us who put plenty of effort into things with real meaning, think most things are more important that outward beauty... but still prefer to look pretty and groomed. It's not a crime.

I think as long as you don't let yourself turn into a total slob or walk around looking like Jabba the Hutt then it's fine. Just shower when needed and wear clean-ish clothes (and brush your hair every now and then) and I have no problem. No need to go beyond that.

Gracie's character was originally conceived to be the orphaned children of an FBI agent, her mom, who was killed in the line of duty. Gracie's compelling force in her life was that she was determined to be the best FBI agent in the service, as a tribute to her mom.

They wanted to character that would change from gremlin to princess, so that's why Gracie started out as such an unattractive woman: all she cared about was being the perfect G-man.

When she was forced by the circumstances of her assignment to change, she began to understand that there really is a whole new world of friendships and experiences in which she could participate.

I wouldn't say I'm a health nut, but I believe pretty strongly in taking care of one's self. Exercise, appearance, mental health, it's all a part of the same (overall) package.

I don't see any valid reason for purposely NOT taking care of yourself.

If by "to want to be ugly? or just lack of personal care?" you mean "to just not want to doll yourself up all the time and be like the beauty pageant girls and other women like them who love fashion and make-up" then no. It's definitely not wrong.

I agree that too much if it is just as unappealing, but nobody should strive to "want to be ugly". There's just nothing to gain from that at all and it's unhealthy behavior.

I hate when I see women in industries looking terrible. I work in a professional industry and there are women who aren't taken as seriously as they should be IMO because of their looks. Their outward appearances diminishes their incredible skill. They don't need to look like beauty queens but it wouldn't kill them to have their hair cut and combed, to wear clothes that aren't ragged, and so on. My industry isn't exactly one where you can't afford it either.

I can think of someone I knew who used to dress so terrible. She wasn't a friend or even direct coworker, but a colleague. Her shirrt was always untucked, hair a mess, plus she was overweight. If she simply tucked her shirt in and did her hair, I wouldn't even notice her weight all that mcuh.
