Are they're any in reality? Cause I don't see male cheerleaders in a SoCal public school, I know a cheerleader and she says guys are not up for that and that male cheerleaders only exist in movies.
I'm a high school cheerleader, and this year we have 3 guys on the squad. Normally we have 3-4, last year we had 6. Then again, our school must be different...

My high school had some. The school had a rule that there had to be at least two (if any), though, so there were some years when there weren't any because only one guy was interested. But this was at a small school in the middle of nowhere, so I'd imagine it's even more likely in California.

I'm from the central area of California, and as I said earlier in the thread, my town's high school apparently had two male cheerleaders the year my aunt graduated but after that, it was always female cheerleaders.
End of my junior year in high school, two guys dressed up in borrowed cheerleader uniforms for an assembly in the gym. They were quite athletic and did some gymnastic moves beyond what the cheerleaders could do. It was so good that they, along with a third friend of theirs, were convinced to actually join the cheerleader squad the next year.
Yes,in the league/State I cheered and coached in there were many highly competitive teams that were coed at the youth and high school level. Also if you look at Elite teams they usually have male cheerleaders.
friend of mine actually became a male cheerleader just so he could pick girls up and look up their skirts. he now has arms as big as my head. my entire high school career they had at least two male cheerleaders who were used as bases. they won just about every competition they went into.

I actually was a male cheerleader in high school in the 80's - basically tried out on a dare, along with two friends. Little did we know that cheerleading at our school was not exactly a popular extracurricular, and they were ready to do anything to get more people on the squad - including accept guys. We didn't even have to try out, we just showed up and they said "You're in!".
Before we knew it, we were sent to cheer camp, where we were 3 guys among 350 girls. It was as bizarre and awesome as it sounds. All eyes on us, all the time. The night they had the talent show? Forget it, crazy. O_O
Fact is, once we started taking it seriously and working at it, we kicked ass at camp.
The squad went from a nothing, obscure squad in the middle of New England to winning state, then regionals, then we actually did make it to nationals and placed 16th best coed squad that year. It was a hell of an experience.
So guys, seriously. Go find out if they send your squad to camp, join the squad and have the most freakin' memorable senior year you've ever heard of. I have stories I STILL tell, 25 years later.
