To anyone who asks what do this very different shows have do with one another, well they were both created by the Brendon Small who I think is the best animation writer on television.
So which one you think is better.
It's hard for me to decide since I love both shows so much but I'll have to go with Metalocalypse because I love how they manage the intense continuing storyline with all the bizarre and witty humor.
all great shows, and since this is where the faithful seem to be posting, does brendon small have a thing for older women, with how the grandmother acts on the show, and of course swisgaar's thing for gmilfs? just wondered if that connection had been made before.
I concur. I've seen Meta, and I like the theme song that's about it. I find it funny at times but the humor is too crass for me. It's better than superjail at least. Home Movies on the other hand is hilarious without being too offensive. And I do realize Meta is supposed to be ridiculous. But I just love Home Movies.
I was so incredibly disappointed when I heard that BS had turned his attention to Metalocolypse and wasn't going to do any more Home Movies. I am not at all a metal-head and I hate violence, no matter how cartoony or ridiculous it is. I just don't see any value in it. I watched it twice and I thought certain parts were funny but overall, it wasn't that great. I really wish I could like the show but its just not gonna happen. Sad for me :(. I love Home Movies because they are able to be somewhat subversive without it being too ridiculous. It is a great show :) Coach McGuirk: All right, listen up, that was a good game. We all showed up, and I'm proud of that.
Home Movies was canceled, it's not like Brendon just decided to not make the show anymore.
I love both shows, but I think Metalocalypse is the best cartoon ever created. I'm a child of the 80's and grew up on many an awesome cartoon, but Metalocalypse just does it for me. I honestly care about Dethklok and Offdensen and what happens to them. And he's not my favorite, but who couldn't love Toki Wartooth? He's so adorable, haha.
If life's not beautiful without the pain, Well I'd just rather never ever even see beauty again.
I know it was canceled but there were (supposedly) talks about doing some more Home Movies, I think maybe in the form of webisodes or something. I kept seeing people talk about it for a while but then I remember seeing that B.S. was too busy with Metalocalypse or something. I don't know for sure how it went down, I'm not saying it was his fault or anything but I think the general idea was that he had moved on and wasn't going to go back to doing Home Movies in any capacity, at least not anytime soon. This made me sad.
Coach McGuirk: All right, listen up, that was a good game. We all showed up, and I'm proud of that.
I've watched only a tiny bit of Metalocalypse. I liked its absurdity but I have no frame of reference for metal - I'm an Old. So I prefer Home Movies but I couldn't say one is better than the other; they just appeal to different audiences, and creative types should have the freedom to do that.
I like Home Movies better. Metalocalypse is good for what it is, but Home Movies is on a whole different level when it comes to meaningful comedic story. I actually feel like I learned, or re-learned, some life lessons while watching Home Movies. The characters are all so relatable, and the humor is directed at the viewer (you know, laughing at yourself), while Metalocalypse is more of a "look how stupid these guys are" kind of show. Not to say Metalocalypse is a bad show, I enjoy them both.
I'm going with Home Movies. It's not really fair to compare them because I've seen every Home Movies episode at least 40 times apiece (I wish I was kidding) but Home Movies has characters that have produced more gut-wrenching laughter in me than any other cartoon has ever come close to... Coach McGuirk, Walter and Perry, etc. Not to mention H. Jon Benjamin is comedy gold. Home Movies would be nothing without him.
yeah, you made my point in a way that is way more eloquent than what i probably would have said :) but i kinda feel like metalocalypse is a little like beavis and butthead or something but Home Movies is about real (ish) people...
Coach McGuirk: All right, listen up, that was a good game. We all showed up, and I'm proud of that.
