That drunken 60-year-old lout who crashed the Weir's party & asked Ken if he wanted to go.

reply

Haverchuck. He was the one I couldn't stand.

And Millie too.

I swear, both characters reminded me of people I went to school with. And couldn't stand.

It was easy to just plain dislike certain characters . . . like Alan obviously.

But, I think everyone had at least one redeeming quality or at the very least we learned something about them for which I felt empathy.

For instance, Alan's speech to Bill in his hospital bed made me hate him just a little less.

reply

Daniel. He was a manipulative jerk who only looked out for himself. He pretty much just used his "youthful charm" to get his way all the time. The look on his face when Rosso busts him for trying to set off the fire alarm says it all: it's the look of a kid who finally got punished for the first time and can't believe it's happening to him.

reply

Yeah, I was waiting for someone to say Daniel. He could easily be someone you hate, he was definitely an *beep* But I kind of liked him. And he had plenty of "comeuppance" moments so I felt it all evened out. In fact I kind of liked all the main characters, which is why I adore the show overall. Even many of the minor characters I liked a lot and wished they had gotten more air time (and that's saying something - the show managed to cram in an awful lot of characters with decent air time in just 18 episodes).

But my favorite character of all is...Bill. Obviously I'm not too bothered by his incredible geekosity - he was just a wonderfully believable person to me. With some epic moments.

Vicky the cheerleader. God she was a b itch!

reply

I actually liked her for what she represented - there was always some b!tch that was the quintessential Vicky Appleby that looked pretty, boy crazy, and verbally loathed anyone but their little popularity clique.

Sean in every Ep ...How was he kinda of "cool guy" especially in "Smooching and Mooching" Ep. play'n spin the bottle I wanted to punch him in the mouth...

Nick in his disco phase. Disco sucks!

This is Carcosa. Take off your mask.

Alan the bully sucks. Also Millie kind of drives me insane with her voice. I know she's innocent and worried about her friend but I just WANT Lindsay to hang out with the freaks so I end up looking at Millie as an antagonist rather than a redeeming character.

reply

Maureen. She seemed so fake.

reply

Karen. Just don't care for characters who act all ragey without explanation (and therefore without reason).

reply

I think I was most annoyed by Lindsey and Cindy.

Lindsey was so fake. There is nothing wrong with doing the right thing, telling the truth, etc. I mean, those are obviously good. But she WAS an absolute drag. Did she even have her own personality at all? What DID she care about? Maybe we would have seen more of it had the show gone on longer. The person she was before she became a freak poseur was imposed onto her by her parents. She was a lukewarm freak. She pretended to be into rock n' roll, and she clearly never really care about it. She didn't seem to really care about the freaks. She was always giving them puzzling looks like she didn't get their humor, and she couldn't relate to them at all. She said they used her in the car crash episode. She used them constantly to sort out her identity issues. She looked down on them the whole time, especially Nick. I honestly think that they (mainly Kim, Nick, and Daniel) liked and respected her more than she did them. The only time I felt like she genuinely clicked with someone and be herself was when we saw her with Neil's brother flirting and talking politics.

Cindy was never likeable, and I don't understand why all of the male characters have her on such a pedestal. It wasn't just Sam. To a geek like him, sure she is a goddess. But I thought that objectively, she was a plain, lanky, twitchy, awkward mess. Her voice and her personality (or lack thereof) didn't help. I loved when Sam realized that she kind if sucks once he got with her. She was definitely a pod person. Lame, normal, and boring.
