The whole show is funny but one of my favorite moments is the guy dancing in the apartment. The phone starts ringing and hears all the little noises and it sounds like music to him. Hysterical
For some reason, the line Tim says in the first episode "Whoa there, Pickle" always cracks me up. The way he says it is just fantastic, and I like the idea of him appointing this nickname to Daisy when he hardly knows her (and doesn't even know her real name). It's wonderfully awkward.
Of course, the series is just plain excellent.
-- "What you just said, that should be a line. Write that down as a line. ...Period."
I just re-bought Spaced on DVD (The 3 Disc Collector's Edition) yesterday, and after watching all the episodes again I was in creases with some scene's I had found funny the first time I watched it. Maybe it was because I havn't watched it in over a year that I found it all really funny again. Some of the scene's which cracked me up were:
In "Beginnings" when Daisy and Tim are in the cafe and Daisy suddenly starts crying as she says "Every morning I wake up and it's the same. I get up and I buy the paper, and I circle them all, and I phone them only to discover they've been taken by a bunch of f ucking psychic house hunters", followed by Tim's "Hey there, Pickle" line, class.
Also in "Beginnings" when Daisy asks Brian what sort of Art he does "Anger, Pain, Fear, Aggression" I love the scenes in between each word, especially Aggression, lol.
In "Art", well since I class this as my favourite epsiode it's hard to choose a certain scene, but if I have to I'd go with Vulva's show. I laughed the first time I saw it....I cried watching it yesterday. I must have rewound it about 3-4 times. "It's Not Finished.....It's Finished".
In "Battles" the paint-ball scene when Mike comes running with the two guns, throws them and jumps in front of Tim as Duane shoots him, followed by Tim's line "It's not a bed-sit.......it's a Flat!" I love the scene between Tim and Mike as Mike is "dying",.
"Oi, Oi....you lucky people!" Any scene involving Tyres, he has got to be the best character in the show, shame he's only in two epsiodes. "Last Night was an A1, tip-top, clubbing, jam fair. It was a sandwich of fun, on ecstasy bread, wrapped up in a big bag like disco fudge. It doesn't get much better than that. I just wish that I could control these F UCKING MOOD SWINGS!!.
Haha, Tyres is great. I have that same disc set; have you watched the blooper of Tyres trying to say that line? It's hilarious, it takes him a long time to get it right.
I love everytime Tyres has a mood swing the way Tim and Daisy are staring up at him, then it cuts to him sitting down, then cuts back to Tim and Daisy still looking up and then looking down like Tyres just appeared in the chair without transition.
Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist.
Oh yeah, and in the clubbing episode, I love the way Tyres walks into the apartment to pick everyone up and immediately focuses on Brian. It's like he can sense that Brian isn't coming and has to do whatever he can to rectify that.
It's his clubbing sixth sense.
Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist.
In the Art episode when Brian gives his empowering speech about being a man and standing up for himself, and then is startled by Tim on the couch and runs out the door whimpering.
Also, when Mike moves upstairs with Marsha and she says along the lines of
'I'm so glad I'm going to have a big strong man around the house.' Mike: 'Who's that then?' Marsha: 'You, you pillock!' Mike: 'Ahhhhhh!'
I can't believe this topic has gone this long without anyone mentioning the famous Spaced shootout.
Another favorite:
"I got a letter from my ex-girlfriend this morning, three months too late, explaining why she dumped me. It was full of 'You'll always be special' and 'I'll always love you' platitudes designed to make me feel better whilst simultaneously appeasing her deep-seated sense of guilt for dumping me, running off with a slimy little city boy called Duane and destroying my faith in everything which is good and pure." "So it didn't really work then." "No, it MADE ME WANNA DROWN THINGS."
Regent University: Education-style learning in a school-type environment!
One that springs to mind is when they get confronted by the hooligans after Tim accidently gave them Orageno instead of drugs and they do the whole gun-finger thing. It was so well edited and it was brilliant bringing that back in from earlier in the episode.
Tim : "Yeah I was just wondering if you could run my portfolio over to Darkstar for me"
Tyres : "OH I SEE. YOU DON'T CALL ME FOR WEEKS, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU WANT A FAVOUR? THAT'S NICE THAT IS(!) YOU KNOW THE LAST TIME I SEEN YOU, YOU SAID YOU WISH THAT I WAS YOUR DA, AND YOU HUGGED ME THROUGH THE ENTIRE NIGHT OF THE ACID TWEAK AND FUNK MIX OF JOE SHIX HIGHER STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO FERRY 'ROUND YOUR "ART" FOR YA???"
