Happiest Ending Ever?

I think this movie has the happiest ending ever. Or are there others?

reply

One of the happiest, yes. And I loved the movie for that sake. I normally do not care much for happy endings, but since this time it had to do with Dad reuniting with his Son, I badly wanted a happy ending and I got it.

Time travel films that end upbeat are:
Timecop
Timestalkers
Time After Time
Disaster in Time
Time and Again (2007)
The Amazing Mr. Blunden
Somewhere in Time ~ in a way...

Others:
most musicals
On Golden Pond
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope ~ except for Ben's death

*** The trouble with reality is there is no background music. ***

you should go for Source Code (2011). . .

I think it was a really happy ending that worked, celebrating the great benefits of family, friendships, baseball, dogs and giving up smoking.

It was for me too. John although his father SURVIVED the fire.He died 10 years earlier in 1989,from lung cancer,in John's present day. His father though threw away his smokes in 1969,making it possible for him to STILL be with John in present day,1999.That's why John was SO surprised to see his father still alive,to save him.

I loved seeing the ending with three generations and playing baseball. How good can it get?

As someone who lost their father when they were young, and getting teary-eyed just seeing the trailer for this, and during seeing it in the theater basically having to keep myself quiet while sitting next to a very understanding friend because I was basically BAWLING in my theater seat, yes, I loved the ending of this movie, especially since the director's prior films, Primal Fear and Fallen, had kind of "kick you in the nuts" endings.

SPOILERS FOLLOW.

Though not a movie...the episode "word processor of the gods" from "Tales form the Darkside"....had one of the HAPPIEST endings one could HOPE for. Using that magical, rigged-up "word processor--the main character got EVERYTHING he had wished for...the perfect wife, son, and riches too. ANd--while doing this...he got RID of his slothful, no-good son and wife--just "deleted them" from his existence.

I TOO...lost my OWN father at 7 years old...so this movie and it's WONDERFUL ending...were somewhat painful for me too.

If ONLY...a person could get an old HAM radio and go back in time...to "change some things for the better"...

Terrible choice of song, though.
