Whats everyones opinion on this topic. I saw this film a few years ago and watched it again last night. Such a class film, but yet it wasnt that hyped up! Seems surprising to me.

This is an amzing film in many ways.
The idea, story/plot, the acting...
So many people haven't seen it because is wasn't really "marketed", but it should be in any movie-fan's collection.
I totally agree with you. I love this movie. I remember going to see it when it first came out. It still brings tears to my eyes the first time John talks to his father. The movie has it all by being a tear jerks, family movie and mystery.
I must say though it took me watching it twice to really get it and understand. lol I'm slow.

Wow, this is unbelievable. I have the same situation, I watched this few years ago and watched it again today on USA. I was thinking "Damn, this has to be one of the most under-rated movie of all time."
I then logon to imdb just so I can start a thread talking about how under-rated this movie is. Then I saw your thread, quite amazing.
Underated, for sure. I too, saw this film when it first came out and was very entertained. Some people don't like it because it's a tad "sappy". I'll admit that, but I think anyone who has lost a parent (or at least has a strained relationship with a parent) can understand the fantasy in connecting with a loved one. A great movie for fathers to watch with their sons. My own son is just 2 years old, I got this on dvd just so I could watch it with him when he's old enough to appreciate it.

Maybe it didn't do well due to the story itself. The whole time travel, 1968 talking to 1998, etc....tough for some to take. But in this movie. It just works so well!

It's one of those movies you can watch over and over. I know because I have. :) I love this movie!

But, what a movie. I still remember it now. I remember the emotions i was feeling all the way through, especially the end bit.

Just watched this today for the first time. Great, great film. Few films have me on the edge of my seat, and I probably haven't cared about the characters in a film this much ever.
