The scene where they show the kids in a huge snow dug out/cave.
If imitated by kids who thought that would be cool, it is extremely dangerous and can cause fatality. The snow can easily cave in and cause smothering.
I always wanted to build a snow cave like that but my mother was always worried about that very same thing happening. Although the kids in the neighbourhood built one so sometimes I hung out in that one. I didn't see any danger in it.
You'd really have to try to die if you were doing it. Didn't you ever build one as a kid? They cave in all the time and you can just stand up, it's only a few pounds of snow..
Here in Edmonton (Where the movie was filmed) we get vast amounts of snow during the winter. We rarely hear of someone dying from a snow cave in. Besides, kids harden them with ice cold water. Its more like a giant igoloo than anything. The forts are usually a lot bigger than they look. Just enough space to crawl in and out without making so much as a light sprinkle of snow fall on you.
Chill out, like someone said, its a movie. Everything is monitored when being filmed.
I used to dig snow caves. My mom found out and she told me, "Oh... well if it caves in spit to find what ways up and dig." Lol. I love my mom. Neways. I never got hurt.
I'm sixteen years old. I'm polite to every adult I meet. Why do they always look so surprised?
Kids die from getting hit in the heads with baseballs, cant let them do that. Kids die when they bounce on the bed and fall off on their heads. Kids do when they eat chicken too fast so you can't let them eat poultry. Kids die when their ball rolls into the street so you can't let em play outside. Kids die when they swim and get cramps so keep them away from water that is more than 2 inches deep.
ETC......
Life is somewhat dangerous and ultimately terminal. But if you keep your kid away from everything dangerous you will end up with a kid in a helmet and wrapped in bubble tape.
The snow fort is far from the most irresponsible thing in the movie. If anything, it was more irresponsible to show a 9 year old girl driving a snow plow, and having her older brother condone it.
Say goodbye to all of this, and hello to oblivion.
