I met Aries Spears several years back when he was outside smoking a cigarette after his set at the comedy club I was at. I asked him who his personal favorite contemporaries were, and I told him my personal favorite was probably Jim Gaffigan. He laughed, said Gaffigan was corny, and that his favorite was Dane Cook. I think history has proven him wrong, considering within a year or two Cook's popularity dropped like a rock.
