Was this Spielberg's attempt to be cool or something??

it didn't work.

reply

yes.
And it is an epic failure at that.

reply

AND a well written, interesting, entertaining Sci-Fi :)

reply

Not at all, unfortunately.
I was expecting what you wrote.
I got the direct opposite.
Lost in a by the numbers sci fi, man on the run tripe "thriller".
Such huge production giving birth to such a tiny mouse.

reply

everyone is allowed to like what they like. :)
mostly, I enjoyed the dichotomedic ending twist based around the entire premise of the precrime stuff, as well as the sci-fi junk sprinkled into real life: eye scanners, spiders, mag cars...

yeah a bunch of extra action stuffed into a noir future crime thriller. worked for me.

reply

Well, to each its own.
I expect excellence at all times.
This was underwhelming for me.
Not horrible, just a waste of an opportunity for a great movie.

reply

I get that, and respect it.

I LOVE PK Dick stories! So I was happy to get this version. :)

reply

Agreed. He was clearly influenced by the edgy sci-fi of The Matrix

This movie is pretty lame

reply

I don't get the 7.7 rating.

reply

I agree that it didn't work.

People were telling me for years how great this movie was. It was an interesting idea, I'd like someone else to tell the story. I can't remember the last Spielberg movie I liked... maybe Arachnophobia...

reply

Munich.

reply

Spielberg hasn't made a good movie since Saving Private Ryan

reply

I wonder if he and George Lucas made a bet to see who could make a better scifi movie in 2002 since there seems to striking similarities between Minority Report and Attack of the Clones
