Magnolia is not a great movie
It was a really long and boring movie about terrible people making terrible life choices and then over 3 hours later it finally ends with frogs falling from the sky.

Great movie.
sharei watched it again last night. it's certainly way too long, but it works. it feels like watching those first cuts that are screened to test audiences before getting cut down to the theatrical release. this and eyes wide shut both feel like that. when i was watching this, though, i kept noticing scenes that could've been cut down or removed entirely. great movie, though.

shareI thought it WAS great and I give it 9/10 overall, one of Anderson's top 3 best after Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood.
And it was engaging and smooth enough to make 3 hours NOT seem "boring" and actually move rather quick but then I appreciated highly all that I did see.
