The trilogy's special effects have aged like milk
Looking at them now those effects look so bad they take you out of the scenes. Should have opted for more practical effects. They age better.

shareEspecially the wargs.
shareYes
shareNo, especially the Army of the Dead.
shareGreen soapy Army of the Dead had me rolling my eyes in my rewatch yesterday. It looked weird in 2003 but today it looks horrific. I'm also still annoyed Jackson, who never liked the Army of the Dead at all, had them showing up at Pelennor Fields instead of just attacking the Corsair Ships (never shown in the film at all).
shareYep I agree. I just rewatched it recently and forgot how bad the CGI was.
shareI hope you know there were plenty of practical effects in the Trilogy as well.i highly recommend watching the series in 4k and you'll change your tune.
shareThe only reason they seem to look bad is because of newer high-def TVs that go into more detail. I am wondering if there is a way that those films could be processed so they look better in high def.
