What are some other gritty revenge movies like The Limey, and please no one list the Kill Bill movies, those are good but I'm talking about small scale revenge movies. Thanks.

I was reminded of Paul Schrader's "Hardcore" (1979). Fish out of water George C. Scott arrives in Los Angeles seeking to find out what happened to his daughter (an apparent victim of an "entertainment" industry mogul). He becomes friends with a woman in his daughter's sphere (prompting psychological self-examination) while he goes on to violently seek information/revenge.

...and of course John Ford's "The Searchers" (1956).

Twilight (Benton)

It's not a revenge movie, but 'The Hit' from the mid 80s stars Stamp and features British criminal types. It also stars John Hurt and Tim Roth who are both really good. Well worth a look.
