Zodiac by a mile. But I'll admit that I am biased - having grown up in SF a few blocks from the spot where the taxi driver was offed. Fincher also grew up in SF, and I have never seen a film that was so spot on in capturing the feel of San Francisco. It was uncanny. Apart from that, it was a masterful study in obsession, with brilliant suspense.
shareSummer of Sam, definitely. I was only a little kid in NY when all this was going on, so I can't really go by experience, so after seeing this, I asked my parents what they knew about it from their own experience. Mom was more of a homebody, so she only knew of the killings through the news. Dad's experience was the same as my Mom's, but he told me that personally, he kept a gun loaded and ready to go in case Berkowitz was to ever hit our area (Woodhaven), which to his knowledge, didn't.
shareZodiac by a mile.
Although New York is always a more fascinating location, SOS was just way to all over the place, and Spike Lee is so horrible with racial stereotypes, it is tough to watch at times.
Zodiac is tight, thrilling, intense and even comical at times.
Zodiac 100% . This movie wasnt made very well at all zodiac is on another level than this corny dud.
shareSummer of Sam 100% better, Zodiac put me to sleep every time I tried to get into it. Finally tried watching it again a few yrs later and watched it all the way through. It was ok but it seemed to drag on and on. SOS was definitely more interesting and better done. Actors were great!
shareZodiak!!
No contest.
This movie... Ugh.
I really didn’t think either movie was great but Summer if Sam didn’t bore me so I’ll go with that.. the Zodiac case is fascinating and David Fincher is an amazing director but that movie just did not land for me
sharei saw this for the first time and was surprised how similar the killings were shot. Spike deserves more credit for doing it first.
But since this isn't focused on the actual hunt for the killer, it's apples and oranges.
