how old are fans?
I was just wondering how old fans of this movie are? whether you were the same age as the characters/older/younger?

shareThere's so many posts here, I can't keep up. But I think this movie--any movie--that is WELL WRITTEN and performed, transcends age. People from 6 to 60 and beyond can relate to this movie and its theme. Not only have older people gone through the same issues in their own youth -- but these same dilemmas of loneliness, confusion, helplessness, whatever -- can continue on (or resurface)into adulthood and beyond. That's why there are 3 representative characters who are all in the same quandry: the young girl, the middle-aged record collector, and the old man at the bus stop. (Those that missed that point need to rethink the movie). The theme is not just about the young girl and her own youthful problems -- it's an age old saga. That's why this movie can be understood and appreciated by the young and old alike.
shareI probably saw it when I was about 16 or 17....I'm 20 now. :)
shareI'm 71 but I saw it when I was much younger.......66 :)
I really do love this film and I'm as old as dirt!

What a great age! Enjoy it and have a wonderful life!
share24. This is one of the few teen movies that isn't a sex-obsessed movie and has shallow characters. I enjoyed the quirkiness of it very much.
shareI have seen many films in my time, especially teen flicks and I think you hit the nail on the head. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much! Sex was in it but wasn't the main theme and the character study was outstanding! It made you really care for them and were anxious to see if they resolved their difficulties in the end. A really great feel good movie that will be hard to match!
shareI'm 52. Not sure what that says about me, but it's a terrific movie. You can enjoy it because you are the same age or because you've once been that age. It doesn't really matter.
shareI was 19 when I first saw it and I am 22 now.

I'm 18..and happen to be at a similar place to the characters, having just finished high school. I watched it last night before finding out my exam results today. I really enjoyed this quirky film and loved the characters.
Hmm, iced tea. How very musical theater of you.
I'm 38 now. I totally related to the Steve Buscemi character. When I was 28/29 I had a brief relationship with a young hipster chick that lived in my neigborhood. The only real difference was, I wasn't an old jazz/blues/bluegrass fan. I was an old burned out ex-hardcore punk/deathmetal dude.
