I need to preface this and state that Jeff Buckley takes my No. 1 for favorite artists. That being said, I was pleased to see that he made so many lists, but not "Hallelujah".

Yes, it's a beautiful song, but the lyrics have no reflection on a life. Why would you want to play a song whose message, albeit potentially rooted in Christian mythology, says nothing about the deceased??

I would opt for a different track by him - "Satisfied Mind". It was the final track played at his own funeral as well. The message would give reassurance to those present that I passed with no regrets and am quite pleased with the life I lived. That's the kind of song I'd want played at my funeral.

Pixies - Where is my Mind (that's a great one!)
Afasi & Filthy - Livet är Underbart(Swedish hiphop, but very thoughtful and poetic)
Beta Band - Dry the Rain(maybe an abridged version? It's quite long)
Goran Bregovic - Ederlezi
Leningrad - Ja Svoboden(I'm Free in Russian, really beautiful!)

This has too much hip hop in it I suppose for a proper funeral. :P

I don't think it really matters that much. I'll be dead, i won't be able to hear them. I'll probably pick a few of my nearest and dearest to pick a song each. That way it'll be more of a celebration. Songs about death will just bum everyone out much more than necessary. You're already dead, you don't have to rub it in everyone's face.

Can't believe that in spite of this long thread no one has chosen:

Queen - Who wants to live forever?

or

Rolling Stones - Out of Time

I'm definitely going for one of them.
