What a fantastic cast except...

I'm sick of Angelina Jolie. Talk about overexposed (and yes, I mean that every way possible).

I disagree although everybody has the right to their own opinion. Angelina's over exposure has only happened in the last few years, quite a while after this first tomb raider was released. I am not a player of the game but I think that she does a very good job playing Lara Croft

Nah, Angelina did a great job in this film. She gave it some class and depth.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was going to say the same thing.

reply

I agree with you nick4leader.

I'd never even heard of her prior to watching this film and I didn't actually watch it straight away, only quite some years after I started to show an interest in the games.

I think she pulled off the role very admirably given the efforts she put into becoming the character and working out to build up muscle strength, learning how to handle a variety of weaponry etc.

I honestly didn't have a clue she even existed before I saw this film! I enjoy watching her in these types of roles although arguably she was way too thin in Wanted. That said, I have since watched her in earlier films like Girl, Interrupted and she was quite thin then too. Hence the need to build her up a bit to accurately portray the athletic Lara Croft.

I totally agree. To be honest, I cannot see anyone but Jolie playing Lara Croft now, and I think she did a perfect job. Brilliant.

Bad writing, nothing to do with Angelina Jolie. Everyone else was fine as they were. Her 'downfall' came after Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005, and I haven't got a clue why.

I feel your pain. I'm sick of people idolizing her. I'm sick of seeing her face on every magazine when I go to the store. I used to be a huge fan, but I can't take it anymore. It seems that everything she does is staged or she's hiding behind all her kids to quell whatever issues she has. I feel sorry for her.

reply

You used to be a huge fan but now you're sickened and you feel sorry for her. Yep, I totally bought the first part.

A huge Aniston fan maybe.

erm... the film was released in 2001. 8 years before your post!
and it's not her fault that media travel around her.

She was great in the role.

reply

Totally agree with smakris04. It's the media fault that she's "overexposed", not hers. Was it Princess Dianna's fault that she died fleeing from paparazzi? We really don't know anything about her or most other movie stars other than the movie's and supermarket rags and they're not exactly bastions of journalistic integrity.

^^This. I mean, she wasn't overexposed at the time this movie was done. Now she is but that's not really HER fault, the media does that. This movie was done in 2001 and the sequel in 2003, the media started to overexpose her in 2005 after Mr. & Mrs. Smith came out, so I'm not sure how you could say she was overexposed when this came out.

OP
This movie is almost 10 years old...

Yeah, after Mr & Mrs Smith, Angelina started to change, since then Changeling & Wanted have been the only films I liked of hers. Jolie was cool in here, I loved the scenes with her & her father, also the scenes with her, Bryce, Alex West & her butler, those were some great scenes IMHO.

I was, and still am, a huge of the game when it came out, and she did fine. I didn't care when I first saw it because I was 7 or 8...but if they made the movie with her now (assuming she was younger) I'd think, "No...they can find someone better." It's just one of those movies that remind me of my childhood, so even though there are tons of things I could find wrong with the film, it just seems irrelevant. It's a fun movie, not really to be taken seriously.
