Funny scenes that made me laugh

Yes, I realize this is a sad story, but the humour in some of the scenes made me laugh very hard!

Especially the first communion scene. Little Frankie receives the Host from the priest and gulps it down like a horse! "Please stop your clucking and get back to your seat!" he says to Frankie.

Also: the doctor farting in front of a sickly and yet older Frankie.

Who could forget the story Frankie reads to his class about JESUS AND THE WEATHER? If Jesus lived in Limerick, he would die of consumption in a month, there would be no Catholic Church, and I wouldn't have to write compositions about Him. I loved it!

At the Lyric Cinema. Frank misses the First Communion
money collection. One of his friends "fakes" a seizure
to create a diversion so Frank can sneak into the cinema.
Shortly thereafter the kids are "Stuffing their
gobs with Cleve's Toffee. I was so happy I didn't know
whether to *beep* or go blind."
My mother, age 83 who is one quarter Irish continues to use
that colorful expression! :)

YES!

During the film, I kept thinking to myself, this is a dramady.

"...the young man would love it too, but he can't afford it."

My favorite would be the composition about Jesus living in Ireland:

"....He would have died of the consumption, and we wouldn't be writing compositions about Him. The End."
"Did you write this composition, McCourt?"
"I did, sir."

Another:
"That's the baby Jesus. You should pray to Him if you want anything."
"Tell baby Jesus that we're hungry!"

I also laughed when Quasimodo got caught charging money for 'peep shows'. I'm glad his mother beat his butt!

A puerile oaf I may be, but that funniest part is during the scene near the beginning where where young Frank says "It's the twins. Their arses are s hitty!" It's the way that kid delivered the line that floors me every time.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned this one!

"Frankie, there's nothing in the world like a good feed of apples, and a drink of water, and a good *beep* and plenty of grass to wipe your arse with!"

It's the simple things in life, eh!

I agree, the 'Jesus and the Weather' composition was hilarious :')

There was also a bit where young Frank, while confessing, innocently tells the priest something like "...they have already done it with their brothers" which made me laugh so much :'D

It's a great film :)

Reviving old thread...

My favorite parts are:

1. When his grandmother is doing his hair and she spits in his hair and he says, "Will you stop spitting on me?" (LOL!!! Cracks me up every time)
2. After the Irish dance scene when he is throwing a ball in the air. The entire dialogue between his friend is funny.
3. When the horse tramples over the glass. Frankie makes a cute expression.
4. "I'll tell Ma that you put your pint on Eugene's coffin."
5. When Frankie falls off his bike. For some reason, I find it hilarious because it was so random and unexpected.
6. Every time Frank and Malachy came home and started splashing water on each other. Then the scene cuts into them "tap dancing" in the shallow water. (When Micheal was first introduced/born) [It gets me all the time! It was so random)
7. Angela singing. (Before the eclipse scene. Made me cry.)
8. "Where are your shoes?" "I don't know." "Of course you know."
The way he grabbed little Frankie's shoulder and shook it was hilarious and his expressions are so adorable.
9. Every time Angela said "useless feck".
10. Anytime anyone said "feck".

Why is everyone so hostile today? Must be something in the school lunch. (shrugs)
