This movie was way better than its three sequels.
As hard as they tried, Spider-Man Returns and Spider-Man Forever just couldn’t recapture the magic of the original. And don’t even get me started on that abomination, Spider-Man and Robin.

shareI actually agree. I didn't like the take on Doc Ock. I like Doc Ock being an unsympathetic jerk. Same with Sand Man. Then again the way they did Sand Man with making him Uncle Ben's killer was so dumb. I admit as much as I don't like it it does make sense to have a personal connection between Peter and Doc Ock but there is literally no good reason to do something like that with Sand Man. And they ruined the whole origin of Spider-Man by having it turn out that Sand Man killed Uncle Ben from getting startled at seeing his partner come up. Which means if Peter had stopped the robber it would've been him startling Sand Man. So stupid. After that stupid retcon I don't think I wanted to see the Raimi series continue.
I do have other qualms with this movie though. I don't like their take on Peter Parker. He's not a shy awkward nerd in the comics. In the comics even before the Spider bite he could walk up to a girl and ask her out. Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker couldn't even do this after getting the Spider powers.
Although frankly I liked the Amazing Spider-Man movies and think they are better than the Raimi ones.
