the most annoying character?

To me, it comes down to Carmela, Adriana or A.J.

When I rewatch it I fast forward through all the family stuff. It’s pretty boring. Just keep it on our friends. Capische.

Janice and ma..

reply

Too many to choose from but easily the top 3 had to be Tonys Mom, Janice, and AJ.

Useless characters to me were the Barese crew (Ally Boy and Larry). They just wrote them out of the final season like they cease to exist. Others site the standards like Janice, Tony's kids, and Carmela but they're missing the point of their relevance to the story's overall plot and Tony's arc.

reply

I think you'd need a lot of patience to spend time around Paulie Walnuts and not find yourself getting irritated by him.

reply

They are all annoying, but a lot depends on how a certain scene was filmed. Some scenes were made to justify certain people and actions, and some to emphasize our distaste for others, but, when you get down to it, think about their motivations, there is no justifiable character.

I then it's best to think of characters by which period or position. Here are my top most annoying:

AJ & Meadow as teenagers
Dr Melfi in sessions with her therapist
Noah
Junior Soprano on house arrest
AJ's teacher who Carmella dates

I put Tony's ma, Janice, Ralph, and Carmella into différent categories

I'm torn between Janice and Adriana...

I don't get the hate for Adriana, she could be naggy but not on Artie's wife's level. She at least had some redeemable qualities like being supportive of Chris with his screenwriting. And I don't hold the whole becoming a rat scenario against her because she was weak and easily manipulated by the Feds. Someone like Livia who is just a complete snake, tries to have her own son killed, then cries crocodile tears, there is just no one on her level. This sounds bad but I am glad the actress died so we didn't have to have Livia on the show for 6 whole seasons.

I will 100% give you Artie's wife on the top of the heap of the "annoying" crowd! I had totally forgotten about her...Livia is obviously not a good person and while I'm sure she was annoying to Tony, the character never bothered me in that way! I also agree with your character assessment of Ade, she always meant well and she definitely loved Christopher...To tell the truth, I think it was her voice that I found most annoying!

reply

Yeah I'll give you that Ade had an annoying voice, I just looked past it because she was a supportive and loving fiancee.
