WORST MOVIE!!!! don't you think!!...if not why

this was the worst movie i have ever seen. i was very suprised with this movie. i knew it wasn't going to be amazingly spectacular but i thought it would be decent...at least two stars decent. especially with these 'A' list stars. boy was i wrong. first of all the acting was terrible. george clooney and his silly facial expressions and catherine zeta-jones trying to be sexy wiggling her butt every chance she got didn't help the plot. and how do jones and clooney get married so quickly. they don't even know each other and the next thing you know he kisses her after she visits him with her fiance, and says some cheesy line like 'your a fantastic woman.'i especially love the scene when jones gets married and clooney says something like 'if i know you then you will [predicts what she will do]...' How does he know her? From what past experiences???

The worst part was the beginning with geoffrey rush and his wife who is cheating on him. there was NOTHING funny. it was completely stupid and ridiculous, and not in a good way. Clooney and his sidekick who forced tears out every chance he could get did not help this terrible movie which had no point to it. honestly what was the point? there was no point. enough said. Oh, yes and one more thing: the almost dying boss. That was so random and dumb. you couldn't even understand what the man was saying half of the time and the scenes with him in it only make you shake your head more and more. this movie was the worst movie i have ever *emphasis on ever* seen. maybe i will go do something productive since i have just wasted 2 hours of my life.

OMG...this movie is a satire. It is meant to be over the top. In the interviews with the production team, the writers and directors said it was meant to be a satire. That's the beauty of this movie; it's like a hilarious soap opera. I personally love it. And George Clooney did a great job as the neurotic lawyer.

Who the hell are you people?
SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE?

reply

Indeed...Something's Gotta Give was horrible, but About Schmidt was worse.

reply

If you thought "Intolerable Cruelty", "About Schmidt" and Somethings go to give were bad movies, at least you have "Pootie Tang" and "Napolean Dynamite" to watch.

reply

I agree, this movie was 1 of the worst i've ever seen!

reply

I finally saw this movie today. Two years after its release. While I agree it's not the Coen brothers best, I still found it to be quite funny and I look forward to watching it again. Geoffrey Rush should have been in it more. It's all in the dialogue, the humor. Very witty.

reply

no, I could never sit through it again, and I'm quite open to all kinds of movies, and I like all kinds of movies, but this one was totally lacking. I was not entertained at all.

reply

I`m alltogether shocked by people saying this is the worst movie they have ever seen!?

It looks to me like a movie that actually makes you think through it is quite unacceptable for some. Anyone who did not like this movie should stay away from the Coen`s. You just don`t get it.

For the rest of, we can just pray that the Coen`s will continue to make movies.

Grobalis, these are simple, country folk. You know.... Morons.

i find this line of argumentation completely ridiculous. i love the coen brothers. 'fargo' was brilliant - 'the man who wasn't there' even brilliant-er! but this movie not only completely lacked anyhting on the par of these films, but also anything to make it a redeeming movie at all. the characters were hollow - the intentions were cloudy [and i don't mean intentionally ambiguous - i mean it seems as if the actors had no idea which scenes came before or after], the jokes were painfully non-funny, the plot arc was LOLLING. really people, if you liked this movie, fine - good for you. but at least admit that it is seriously not on par with anything the coen brothers have previously produced.

if you don't agree that this is a bad movie in general, at least *admit* that its the coens' worst.

i would actually like someone to give an intellegent response, please, and not just batch be for being 'country folk' [which, for the record, i am not.]

reply

Of course it's not the Coen's best. I'm sure even they would accept that. It was originally a script doctoring job as I understand it, so in a sense it's almost not really a 'Coen film'.

I'd have to see it a couple more times to decide if it was their worst - I found "Lebowski" disappointing the first time I saw it but it later became my most-watched movie - but in any case deciding which is the Coens' "worst" movie is a little like deciding which is Mozart's "worst" opera.

Surely there was a lot to enjoy here, from the tweaking of Clooney and Zeta Jones' public personas to the snappy dialogue. The inhaler joke was laugh out loud funny, and I thought the courtroom scene with the Baron was too. CZJ's air kisses, Billy-Bob Thornton's whole performance (playing against his last Coen role in the same way that Buscemi did in "Lebowski"), "I see an ass - I nail it".... Come on, in a world where "Dude, Where's My Car?" and "Big Momma's House" exist, how can anyone describe this film as bad?

i liked it. thought it was pretty funny. too bad for you if you didnt.

reply

I didnt enjoy this film cos when i watched it the scenes jumped soo fast there was never any build up to scenes ya just got took strait to it.

reply

I'm just amazed it's 6.6 - I was expecting a 6.6, this movie is a 3.5 or 4 at best.

It's terrible.

reply

I definitely did not like this movie. Worst movie? I think that's pushing it. But I thought it was pretty brutal.

Tell me you don't love me.
I don't love you.
Liar.

This is the worst movie ever made. Even Batman&Robin is better than this.

First of all, this movie wasn't supposed to be a "real" movie. It is a satire and the way it plays out is the way it was written. The over-acting, stupidity, and hilariously ingenious dialog is what makes it great.

I think the people who REALLY didn't like this movie are those types of hardcore Coen fans who either just generally don't like romantic comedies at all or even who were angry about the Coens' foray into this subject matter. That's the only explaination I can think of for this kind of violent reaction to a film which is at best TOTALLY funny, and at worst, if you weren't amused, pretty harmless.

Worst movie?! While I admit to "not getting it", the fact that you consider this the worst tells me you haven't seen many movies.

reply

No, because of Geoffrey Rush!

It's a Geoffrey Rush thing, you wouldn't understand! Captain of Team Barbossa

this film requires inteligence to follow. it has a better plot line than most films out today because it was well planned and suprising. the characters are brilliant and anyone that says george clooney is crap lacks a brain. just because the film doesnt follow conventional way a film pans out doesnt stop it from being good. for a coen brothers it was rele good. but all coen bros films are class above the rest like guy richie and tarentino films. It wasnt as good as o brother or the big lebowski but it was still a brilliant film! Some people dont like it but you dont hav eto bag the sh!t out it just because you hated it, thats only showing the world ur personality. the film is very witty and that is why some people dont like it. the coen brohers dont make films to reach out to huge audiences. Fargo for example is fantatic but many people hate the violence. Big lebowski the swearing. go complain about bout something else not about how u thort u wasted you saturday nite. nobody cares!
