Why are all the high school parties in 90's movies like college parties? Did I miss something? I went to high school for the first time in 2003...did I go too late? were 90's parties like this?!!

The big-wild-teen-party-in-a-fancy-house is pretty much a movie cliche. To some extent, this movie was having some fun with the cliche.
shareThe parties I went to in high school were usually over 50 people crammed in someone's backyard with dim light. I had some good times at those parties. I remember this one time a person had a giant trampoline and some kid was bouncing up and down doing both back and front flips while chugging a forty.

shareI graduated high school in 1993. I don't know anyone who had these kind of parties. It SEEMED the popular kids, like the football players and cheerleaders did judging from the stories they told.
I think I just had the wrong kind of friends? The "parties" I went too were really small. And with some of the drugs and such usually going around, we had to keep it VERY quiet, so not to arouse the suspicion of any adult neighbors who knew no parents were home.
Back then we had the chance to go too a college run party. We got there to find about 500 college kids standing in a group with about 100 cops in riot gear watching them. I'm sure THAT was a good party?
I went to a few parties in high school and none of them were like this.

*beep* I graduated in 2007 and hell yeah I been to some parties like this! I was pretty much a chameleon as my buddies called me, I was the good looking popular jock guy who was friends with litereally every single group of click in high school.. So I went to all kinds of parties invited to.
Guy I knew used to have HUGE keggar parties in his basement where his whole street and the next street were FILLED with cars on t he curbs(cops usually drove past, too). Big house, ya walk in, go downstairs and BAM- probably close to 80 people there. A few were absolutely nuts and took over whole house. One was a black and white party I remember, that was really cool.
I went to a party in this really really ritzy town 20 minutes from my place and the house was HUGE. I go in, had like 3 floors, some dude jumped off the balcony into snow he was so drunk, some random dude stole CDs, whole house was slammed, someone rode a bike through the house, the girl like in movie was trying to keep order lol. Yeah.. Bout that.
Went into a house party a dude I knew threw and there was jell-o wrestling going on in the garage. Yes, it was awesome.
Best one EVER was this girl Nicole who used to date this friend of mine. She had a monsterous house on the golf course and would always have these amazing epic parties only the "In" crowd were allowed it. Yes, I know it;s horrible and super shallow, wasn't my house and I wanted to get laid; what am I gonna do? Anyways, her parties were always full of hot girls and lots n lots of drinks and people. I've had some intersting experiences at her place.
Best time was when she threw a linguire party. Yes, I am 100% serious. I was invited and only a handful of other fellas from my school. Everyone else was from her town and it was predominantley females. Men had to wear boxers/boxerbriefs and no shirt. Women had to wear,well, lingerie. I remember going at it with this chick on the pool table in the middle of the damn million dollar basement LOL.
Oh man, I know high school may not be the best days of my life and college was a blast, but goddamn was it a fun time!
