I have to say the best character in this entire thing is Mr. Bennington. When he spots Bob at the beginning and is like "Bob? Bob Rueland? I suppose you heard about my sizable donation. Strictly annonymous. You know, Bob, I made another sizable donation to the Rainforest Foundation and I actually ended up on a safari. Can you picture me on a safari Bob? I was. I was Bob. Me and the Misses, hacking through the bush!"
I could go on and on about this guy but in my opinion, this movie would not be the same without him. God bless Mr. Bennington....and his sizable donations!
Yea, well I better not hear about anyone else touching your squeaker.
I don't want Swiss water. I got sick on an imported Swiss water once. As long as it's not Swiss or tap water it will be fine, preferably French, no bubbles. I want it cold, no ice, no glass, just the bottle and a straw. Do you want to write it down?
My other favorite is when Marty tells Grace that she needs to stop by church again. Then Angelo says, "Geez Marty, she's thanked God enough already." Marty says, "You're going to be a long while in purgatory, you are." Angelo then says, "Well, I'll be with friends." And then the camera shows the other two guys laughing. That last line that Angelo says makes me laugh every single time I hear it.
their son... And then we went to see the gorillas and Mommy said it was you. Megan... I did not. Joe... Oh, really? Did you go to see the elephants? Megan ...Watch it Joe.
Joe Dayton...[screaming at his family] Will everyone just calm down! For the love of God and all that is holy, calm the hell down!
Joe... he got that from you you say hell all the time. Megan .... I have never said hell you son of a bitch
funny so funny! oh and i love the part about hairy legs being you key to reality do funny.
Captian Hook:If I were you, I'd give up Peter Pan: If you were me I'd be ugly!
I love when Carroll O'Connor introduces Bob to the group. He says something like, "This is Bob. His wife is dead." and everyone jumps up to welcome him.
It's great, too, when Bob comes back and wonders if Grace could take him back, and before he can finish what he's saying, Sophie blurts out, "Oh, she CAN!!!"
Love the line Carroll O'Connor says to Grace when he's cleaning up "I'm blessed with work." I go around saying that all the time. It's a great philosophy.
i also love when angelo goes to see marty and bob out the window and shouts...Oh my gosh Martys got bob in the chock hold holy *beep* just dont do it...cracks me up!
Captian Hook:If I were you, I'd give up Peter Pan: If you were me I'd be ugly!
For funny....I like what Megan says when she realized Joe is trying to set Grace up with a former priest: "It's hard to dance when there's nobody leading."
for touching...I like Marty's line to Bob in the garden after Grace has left for Italy: "When she met you, Grace's heart beat truly for the first time. Maybe it was meant to be with you always." Bob's reaction is subtle, but its definitely a 'Wow! Intense. I hadn't thought of it THAT way!"
Another funny...when Charlie is clarifying to Marsha that Bob doesn't work at the zoo, that he is at the zoo building "Bob's a builder". Always makes me think of my sons' favorite cartoon character :)
When someone tells Grace that she shouldn't just run away, one of the men says something like "Sometimes you have to run away just to see who will follow." Priceless advice...
My husband and I just got done watching the movie. It's probably the 20th time I've watched this movie, my favorite romance by far ever. I love the line and will always remember when Carroll O'Connor's character says "Perhaps her heart was to always remain with you..." I just about melt and I cry everytime he says that. The trueness of that quote makes the entire movie. I could watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life. The best romantic comedy ever made.
Ok--help!! I need a quote...it's the one right before grace is going to tell bob...Marty tells her "remember--it's the strongest character that God gives the most hardships to -- you can take that as a compliment" or something--can someone give me the real quote, please? thanks!
John Belushi has been dead for like 25 years. Jim Belushi though is as equally great as his brother was, and quite funny in this movie. I love him too.
