Viking films?
Are there any other good Viking films out there? Doesn't seem to be a whole lot.

share"Sigurd Drakedreper" aka "The littlest viking". A Norwegian movie from 1989. I saw it as a kid, and I liked it. So you can see it with your kids :)
In case of misspelling words, I'm Norwegian
Has anyone here seen that gem of an animation movie called Ronal Barbaren? It's hilarious, I strongly recommend it.
"Occasionally I'm callous and strange."
There are 2 Swedish movies called:
Arn
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0837106/
and
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0950739/
They are both very good although ca. 40% of the action takes place in Palestine during the Crusade era.
Would recommend them if you are interested in the Viking, Scandinavian atmosphere. Among the best and most expensive movies that the Swedes have made.
The Arn movies are great, I really loved them, they are among my favorite movies. However, they are not viking movies, they are closer to Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven about the crusades.
By the time the events in Arn take place, the vikings were already extinct. We can see some things related to scandinavian culture of course (some cultural elements that even originated during the viking era), after all most of the movies take place in medieval Scandinavia (Sweden), and the main characters are scandinavian as well of course.
I would recommend the original Pathfinder movie, not the american crappy remake, but the norweigan version, more than vikings is a tribal thing, but it does take place during those eras, and is far superior than the american version.
Christianity's GREATEST ally and BEST friend throughout history is Satan
saw part of this a few years ago can't remember if it was any good it was a mini- series

I would reccomend watching the new pathfinder movie without subtitles. It's a much better movie when you can only understand half of the dialog. When I first downloaded it, I was unable to find the subtitles so I had to watch it without them. It wasn't a great movie, and I didn't fully understand everything that was going on, but I actually enjoyed the movie. Once I found the subtitles and gave the movie another go, I could hardly sit through it. The dialog and story are just plain awful. Sometimes not understanding everything is a good thing lol!
shareThe best one is The Vikings from 1958 which I have seen has been mentioned here. There are no better ones that I have come acrossMy house isn't messy. I've simply set up obstacles for any burglars
Check out the new TV series called Vikings. It's really good and historically accurate.
shareI was a late comer the Vikings series. Absolutely amazing! In depth characters and plenty of action/storyline.
Just recently watch the first two seasons, completely hooked. So much so it's brought me to this forum in the search for other Viking content.
The series Vikings is NOT historically accurate. It has well-known historical figures in wildly inaccurate relationships, by which I mean they'll say two men are brothers when they were actually father-son and so forth. Nevertheless, it's entertaining in a melodramatic Ren Faire sort of way.
