You killed Captain Clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN-The Joker on Batman TAS

Of course i enoyed it, it only shows how retarded believing in a supreme being is.
Its on the same level of utter nonsense as The Prophecy movies, Legion etc
The bible is nothing more then a great source of fiction meant to entertain, because it self is pure fiction, same level as Harry Potter movies, Lord of the Rings etc came from books. Theyre as much fiction as the bible.
Oh i do believe some dude back in the day under roman oppression stood up and started to rebel against them, a dude just a bit to smart for his own good and actually managed to reach people with his ideas.
And just like all stories, over the years something gets added, then a bit more and a bit more and before you know it you end up with a dude walking on water, instantly curing lepers, turning water into wine, and even further becomes a religion, rigged togheter with hearsay, superstitious make-belief and what not but nowhere near the truth. And then theres a bunch of opportunists who see this as a good way to enrich themselves, all in the name of a god.
And an infantile superstitious race like humans is of course easily controlled by means of religion, pay us or else you go to hell ! Mwahahahaha, thx but no thx, ill rather pay a high end prostitute, smoke drink and curse like a heretic, steal if i get the chance to get away with it clean, bash the *beep* head in that dares stepping on my toes. You only live once, living by their fabricated rules only narrows the opportunities to live properly and youre a moron to follow them while they get richer on your back.
Have fun with your religion :)

Do I have to believe in wizard's to enjoy HP? Do I have to believe in magic powers to enjoy Superman? Aliens to enjoy X-Files?

I treat DOGMA like I treat all fantasy movies. Made up entertainment. The bible has great material to be used for stories. Fascinating battle between good and evil.

None of it is real. But neither are most stories and I love those.

So yes, I can enjoy DOGMA without believe in God or the Bible or Jesus as being real.

Just like I can enjoy Spiderman without him being real.

I'm about the most disbeliever you can meet, and I still love this movie.

My opinion, evolution/big bang/science explains enough for me. I don't believe in deities or demons or anything, I think the bible is a great, bloody, at times scary read, but that's all it is. So, using that, I see this movie as just another re-imagining of old fables and legends, much like the constant retellings of things like other legends, greek myths, even things like legend of loch ness and ghost sightings... it's all the same to me.

This movie, imo is not aiming to change anyone's beliefs of proselytise to anyone. It's just a movie.

I'm an agnostic, but I don't enjoy the movie much, not because of religion, although I think the films commentaries about religion are pretty facile, but because it's just not a good movie in my opinion.

reply

Yes indeedy I did

I enjoyed it, I thought it was hilarious and had a few interesting ideas about Catholicism and religion in general. It's not that good of a movie though, but I think that has more to do with some of the actors rather than the script/directing

I liked this movie when I was a generic christian, I like this movie now as an atheist. Opinion hasn't changed. Only now I somewhat laugh at how they have to "bow down" when god walks through the church. Why would you have to do that??? I'd never bow down to anything.

Only people with money say that money doesn't matter.

There's no reason an atheist can't enjoy this movie. I'm an atheist and I love this flick.

I'm an atheist and I love this movie. And guess what, I even enjoy religious films too. You know why? Because they are all made for entertainment and that's that. People need to stop taking movies and video games and so on so damn seriously. I've always said some of the best stories out there come from the Bible. So movies about Jesus or Moses or whomever can be very entertaining regardless of if you are religious or not.

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

reply

Yeah, why wouldn't they?

Atheist / Rationalist here,

I liked Dogma. Kevin Smith would probalby agree with me that having faith is not inherently evil. It is when oragnized religion, as driven by men, manipulate the faith of the masses towards war, destruction and bigotry.

I have no problems with the average Sunday worshipper.

I DO have problems with pro-lifers, homophobes, terrorists and child-rapists who lean on personal faith to cause damage to others' lives. Not down with THAT.
