Linda Fiorentino ruined this movie

While I am a huge fan of Kevin Smith's movies and I do like Dogma, I just feel like this movie would have been better if it wouldn't have had the monotone of Linda Fiorentino's performance. The worst case was after Rufus fell from the sky and they went to Mooby's to eat. When Rufus asked what they were eating, her response was "egg---a---moo-by--muf-fin". I mean the Terminator doesn't even sound this robotic. Did she just wake up from a deep sleep right before the cameras started rolling or what? It's no wonder that Kevin Smith will never make another movie with her in it. And we fans are all the better for it.

BIG WHIT!

Agree.

I do not have Attention Deficit Disor ... Ooooh, look at the bunny!

reply

I agree, her performance was so annoying. She constantly talked with the same tone of voice and the same look on her face, I really think she was the movie's weakest element.

reply

Agreed! Just came to the board to see if I was the only one who found her insuferable. I'm currently at the scene where Rickman is explaning to her her mission in the mexican restaurant and have to pause every 3 seconds as soon as she speaks because she irritates me so badly: wtf is wrong with her? Is she supposed to be shroomed out? Why is she so blasé and monotoned etc? She's supposed to be a catholic who is doubting her faith and even the existence of God in this movie. And Angel comes to visit her and she coudln't give to sh*ts?! Thanks God she stopped making movied. What a freeking prat. From what I understand she was actually like that on set too! What a nightmare: she totally ruins the movie...urgh

I dont know her work, but I liked the way she did the role. She was a big problem so ruined her career.

reply

I find it ironic that her character acted like Garafalo does in real life. He should have just put Jeannine in the role.

reply

I think she worked in the sense that she was the "straight man" in a film full of weirdo's. She was completely unimpressed by her company.

reply

To me she is the "straight guy" in this film, all the characters are so crazy and cliquey with each other and then you have Linda's character who is an outsider and quite cynical. I would say her dry approach works here.

the whole movie ruined this movie.
