What is your favorite scene in the Truman Show?

reply

When he re-unites with his father after Marlon's speech to Truman about friendship. Or the final scene when Truman hits the wall & dialogue from the show's creator. Both were amazing.

1.In the square when he starts to realize something going on.
2. When Meryl does that plug when he's being serious. We see her Breaking the Fourth Wall from the Truman Audiences perspective.

3. When Christoph calls to Truman in the godlike voice. He pauses.

"Truman, I am the Creator (pause) of a TV show!"

Im the Alpha and the Omoxus. The Omoxus and the Omega

When Truman is sitting in the car, trying to convince Merryl that the people going around the block are going "round and round and round." Merryl's response is to promise he can go to Fiji, then says "There! Is that better?" When she says "There!", just the way she says it, it was one of the great acting moments ever.

Easily when he leaves the boat & touches the wall.

People love the scene when he crashes into the wall and proceeds to pound on the wall trying to escape.. finally seeing the staircase and exit door.. its so wonderfully done.

Some others I haven seen on here..

When Meryl plugs the hot cocoa and Truman demands.. "What the hell are you talking about? Who are you talking to?"

The meeting on the beach between Truman and Sylvia.

Every time Marlon had to come over and talk Truman down he led with the beer.

Marlon panicking and looking at the camera "HES GONE!!"

Cristof's look when he was conducting Marlon and Trumans conversation leading into Trumans father returning. Ed Harris should have won the Academy award for this scene alone.

OHHH GOOOD FOR YOU!!

There are so many scenes in this film that are perfect. The entire film really is a master class in how to make a film.

The ending is probably the best scene, however I'd say every scene with Sylvia and Meryl are probably my favourites. The Marlon scene on the bridge with Christoph in his ear. This is also one of my favourite roles of Ed Harris, he plays it so well.

Then there is Carrey. The film simply wouldn't be the same without him at the helm at all. He was so unbelievably suited to this role and plays it so well it's a shock he didn't win awards for it. It's his second best performance after Eternal Sunshine imo.

Think somebody has already said it but when Truman is sitting in his car, Meryl joins him and he points out the same people on a loop - The sound of shock from Truman when the guy with the red umbrella appears and as the VW drives by he shouts "There's that dented Beetle!" to underline his point.

I have 3 favorite scenes:

Serious scene: Truman and Marlon sitting on the dock/pier. Truman pouring his heart out to a liar.

Funniest scene: He and Meryl in the car. Oh my stars. Side-splitting!

Craftiest scene: His disappearance. Very clever.

I always liked the scene on the beach where Truman is alone with his thoughts, and the one small stream of rain starts, and then follows him around for a bit.

The driving scene was well done too, and of course the ending.

I like the Lauren/Sylvia angle and I like when they meet and the following scenes when she's watching him on TV and when he pulls the montage collection photo that looks like her.

The entire scene where he knows something up is really entertaining, him paranoid at the store while telling his friend and the entire sequence of him in the car watching to people loop behind him and trying to drive away for a spontaneous vacation.
