imagine this coming out today
would it beat comic book movies?
shareProbably not.
shareNo way. Titanic came out when we still had a thing called movie stars, and pop-busters - songs that came out alongside a movie for megabucks.
It also wouldn’t pass the woke test. Jack would have to be trans and permanently need rescuing by Rose.
Wow. Do you want to see trans people everywhere you go?
shareNo. What gave you that notion?
shareYou said, "Jack would have to be trans".
shareYes, in order to pass the woke test.
Woke is an insane, evil ideology that has effectively killed Hollywood.
No. You want woke, you need trans characters in cinema to justified your outrage. Hollywood is doing well, not even the pandemic could kill it.
shareThat’s a very convoluted perspective you’ve pulled out of your ass and attributed to me. You wokies aren’t very bright and have a tendency to tie yourself in knots. Please, keep going…
shareOnly if both Rose and Jack were pansexuals.
shareTitanic is superior to comic book movies.
Leonardo DiCaprio had huge following back in the 90's. Teenage girls craved to see him on big screen no matter the movie. Some of them saw Titanic at the movie theater 7 times or more. Women in their 20's also were talking about Titanic, some insisting everyone should go see the movie at the theater at least once. Boys pretended they disliked the movie because... Leo. Everyone remember on IMDB Titanic had a low score of 6.7 due to boys and men downvoting the movie.
Titanic resonated worldwide and nothing came close since.
Now here is my opinion about why it would maybe fails today : Acoustic. It's not easy to apprehend the topic because it is rarely or never discussed seriously. It starts at home. Here is my premise : Flat screen tv is a HUGE catastrophe for entertainment. Remove the flat screen tv and put back convexe screen tv again in every home and the world will go back at what it was.
Flat screen tv reflects sound energy at our ears and blurs stereo image. At the opposite, Convex screen tv scatters the sound hitting it hence reducing the alteration of our audio-visual experience.
Because flat screen tv interfers with stereo image it also reduces our ability to enjoy movies challenging our intellect and emotions. It's as simple as that. Many acousticians will disagree and say that the tv screen is a negligeable element inside a room. They are wrong. Problem being, every tv now are flats or concaves (curved), the latter might even be worse.
What does the shape of the screen have to do with acoustics, which is determined by the speakers?
shareThe screen reflects sound waves. Convex screens diffuse the reflection.
Inside a movie theater the screen is acoustically transparent.
There are also some other elements inside our home that used to absorb sound like rugs/carpets. Nowadays people get rid of them for dust reasons and cleaning time. Back in the day carpets were everywhere. Now it is either absent or installed on a limited surface. Overall, current decors are aesthetics, almost clinicals.
The size of a flat-screen tv, in the overall context of the size of a room, is acoustically negligible. It would take sensitive instruments to discern any effect. Human ears can't tell the difference. But you stick to your 1940s technology cathode ray tube tv and enjoy.
shareWell it's returning to theaters next year in 4k. It'll make some money from the people who didn't get to see it in theaters in 1997. https://deadline.com/2022/06/titanic-rerelease-date-remastered-version-james-cameron-1235050212/
shareAs much as I love Titanic it's still a product of its time & will not reach today's audience like it did back then. But, um, that's a good thing u know because it's a classic from yesteryear!
shareIt'll make money from the people who were not old enough to see it in theaters in 1997. I might go check it out since it'll be in 4k and it'll be fun to watch the sinking again on the big screen.
shareIt will get reedited using CGI making some of the passengers black, Hispanic, Indian and Asian. No white people will survive the sinking.
