Classic or flop?

Just thought I would try and get an idea on people opinions on this movie, as I have yet to meet anyone I know who likes this movie, so I kinda feel alone on this one, for me this is still my favourite movie and probably always will be, you've only got to read my review to figure that one out, not sure what it is really about this movie that I like so much....hmmm who knows? well anyway my verdict is Classic.....would like to hear others opinions on this....if anyone cares that is.

Oh and this is my first post ever on IMDB so try not to rip all my limbs off

Oh and its early hours of the morning im writing this so if my spellings a bit pants you know why :-P

Neither a classic nor a flop, just an ok actionmovie whos a bit forgotten.

I'm not sure I would call it a classic, but its def a solid spy/action movie with a dose of humor. I find it to be a very enjoyable film. Loved the soundtrack..the use of gadgets/technology..disguises. Val Kilmer is good as usual. Elizabeth is nice too :)

Pretty sure I picked it up in the bargain bin like others. Underrated film. Wish they would release this on blu-ray!

This is one of my all time favorite films! It's clever, romantic, exciting, silly. Great photography, fabulous music, good writing.

Classic. One of my very favorite movies.

I must assure you, you’re never gonna get away!

Yep, definitely one of my faves. And I don't mind that the movie-going public didn't like it as a whole. THAT'S what makes it a cult classic in my book. Look at all the movies out there that were panned when they first came out and then 20-30 years later, they were classics, and it was cool to like them. Not saying The Saint will reach that status but you never know. Loved it.

Classic for me. I love it!

Where they burn books, they will ultimately also burn people.

It's a classic and my favourite action movie. I love Val Kilmer as the Saint but IMO the movie works so well, because they didn't just create a good-looking love interest, but a perfectly crafted character and found an amazing actress to portray it. Elisabeth Shue is as convincing as eccetnric scientist Dr. Russel as Val Kilmer is as the Saint. Usually they either have an action babe or a dumb blonde alongside the hero, with no purpose at all. Also Elizabeth and Val's chemistry is what makes this movie better than the rest, together with a well rounded storyline that doesn't need silly one-liners, pointless action scenes and flashy explosions to be exciting.

It's a shame they didn't make a sequel. I still hope they will. Shue is still hot and Val, though way older now, is still fit enough to play the Saint again. The Saint never really was a kick-ass fighter or something, so Val would be surely up for it.

Modern day classic for sure! I've loved this film when it first came out - and I was only like 12 when I first saw it! Obviously I probably appreciate it a bit better now at the ripe old age of 23, like gosh val kilmer was a spunk! dang! I love the romance, the action, the story - and especially VK's performance. Awesomeness! I haven't actually watched it for ages - right after i send my uni assignment, I'm watching it! Oh - and did everyone else get that funky Saint pin? I just found it again after all these years!

Do you have monkeys in Scotland?
~No, but if we did we'd probably deep fry them!

Classic flop.

I hear his theme music, he's around here somewhere...

One of\if not the worst film I have ever seen, I do not think I have rated any film worse than this. The story is unbelievable in the extreme and Val Kilmer has never been as bad and that is saying something.

reply

So uncultured. Tsk tsk tsk. What are you even doing on a movie site?

It's a classic for me. LOVED this movie. So there are spots that aren't exactly edited well. But for entertainment's sake I LOVE it. Own it on DVD and VHS. lol. Just watched it this morning as a matter of fact. It's one of my go to movies to watch when I wanna watch something a little exciting, a little romantic. A nice little romp of escapism. So the critics weren't exactly pleased with it. Oh well. IMO it was worth the making of it.
Just to let everyone know---I never did see Roger Moore as The Saint. My ex did and he still likes this movie. lol.

And Val Kilmer in all his disguises. The makeup artist on this movie outdid themselves I believe.

A flop. Only a few remember it today. Unlike the original which is still remembered by many people.
That being sad, it wasn't a bad film. But it wasn't particular good either. It was never boring. But it wasn't that interesting either.
A typical middle-of-the-road film. Decent to watch, but nothing you remember afterwards.
