Does anyone actually go to their high school reunion?

Props to social media for allowing me to be in touch with the people I want to. My 25th-year reunion is this summer, and I'm not going.

I went to my 10- and 20-year and had a ball both times. That being said, I miss the "surprise factor" that used to come with reunions. Today, thanks to Facebook, everybody knows what everybody is up to and, more importantly, what everybody looks like. Of course that can be a good thing too - conversations tend to be more interesting. It's less about "What are you up to now?" and more about "Wow, so tell me about your trip to Ireland."

A friend of mine went to our 10-year reunion (C/O 2000). Out of the 150 graduating students, roughly 10% showed up. It was a privately hosted event downtown off of a street underneath a canopy with balloons, tables, a few then and now pictures, and lots of booze.

I'm glad I didn't go. The whole point of a reunion is to see what everybody is up to nowadays and how their lives turned out. Social media kinda quashed that one.

It's pretty much just an excuse to get drunk and rowdy for one night with former classmates since they were unable to do so in high school.

My 20-year is slowly approaching. Still not gonna go.

I didn't but my 20 year reunion is next weekend and I'm gonna be going to that one.

I would truly rather die than see any of those people ever again. And I certainly have nothing to prove to them.

I went three years ago and had a great time, many of my classmates were really happy to see me and everyone seemed to be having a great time which made me glad.

Mine would have taken place during the beginning of the pandemic, so it didn't happen

But even if it had happened I wouldn't have gone. I don't keep in touch with anyone from back then and I have no interest in catching up with them
