Does anyone actually go to their high school reunion?

I don't think it's much of a big thing in Canada, but do people go to their high school reunions and make it a big thing like the movie? I doubt it's like senior prom, and doubt many go.

Please correct me if I've got it all wrong...

A ton went to my 10th, a ton. Yeah it was big. And there was a 20th next door to use and it looked pretty packed.

I went to my 10 year in 2009, but there was about 30 people there from a class of around 200 and MAN was it horrible.

My class didn't just have cliques, though - the cliques seemed to hate each other intensely. When it was revealed the reunion would take place at a country club, another group from the class organized an "anti-reunion" someplace else. I wondered afterward how many people went to that, and wistfully wished I had chosen that instead.

I've been to all of mine (every 5 years) except the last one which was a cruise and that was scheduled a few weeks before spring break & I had promised my daughter that we could go to the beach and I couldn't afford both (and she was in school at the time of the cruise).

I've gone to all except my 10 year. I graduated in 1986 and just had my 25 year a couple months ago. Had a great time. I was definitely not one of the popular kids in high school. I live in a fairly large city (Madison WI) and our school definitely had a lot of different cliques, groups, or whatever you want to call them.
I've always been very pleasantly surprised that there is virtually no clique-iness at any of the reunions I've attended. We all gather and just have fun together:)

I was invited to a high school reunion 19 years after and I did not go. Had zero interest seeing any of those people again.

Some say that people change for a better when they age but the ones who say that were "A-list bullies" back in their teens. If some of them feels guilty nowadays (unlikely) they can just suck it up as far as I am concerned.

The woman who arranged the whole thing was a prime example of high school bitch-queen back in her days. She got my email adress from my reluctant sister and kept harrasing me when I did not reply to her emails. I could have given that witch a piece of my mind as a reply but I thought it is more graceful just to keep quiet which I did.

The school board in London, Ontario(where I'm originally from) doesn't seem to have traditional reunions where it's just one class that gets together every x amount of years. Typically they'll arrange something for an anniversary of a school.

My school has it's 100th coming up. Debating whether or not I'll go. I hated that school with a passion of 1000 burning suns. Hated everyone there, and a majority of the teachers were useless. The school had the largest group of hypocrites I've ever encountered. They were always preaching 'tolerance' of those that weren't White or Canadian, but would judge you on your clothes if you weren't one of the 'cool kids'. I only chose to go there because people I knew from public school went there. I went away in grade 8 and part of 9, and saw some old classmates. They looked at me like I was a stranger and just ignored me. I wanted to change schools, but I thought it's better to stay in the hell that you already know than one you don't know.

This is the website for the reunion.

I plan on going to my 10th (in 2014). But I graduated from a small Christian school with 14 people in my graduation class, and we're all still pretty close. So we all know each other. There aren't any cliques.

It's been 10 years since I graduated from High School and I wouldn't be caught dead at a reunion. I don't even like to pass by my old h.s. It was that bad.

Well, I did go. It was boring. No helicopters, no scarves. I didn't recognize some people: classmates, teachers, whatever.

High school was mostly fun, despite a few tortured moments and of course the learning and the exams. But the reunion looked like a bunch of geezers who took themselves too seriously.

I have a theory here. Fun arises when people are in something together, so they stick together to cope with it, and one way of doing this is humor and fun. Afterwards, when they 'grow up' and pretend to solve things by themselves, it's too serious, pretentious and silly.

So... let's fold scarves! Like... yeah!

My sister's class just had their 10 year reunion. She didn't attend because she was busy studying for her bar exam and had just been back in town the weekend before. She certainly had a lot she could've bragged about (just graduated from law school AND a master's program at the same time), but she's always been a pretty humble person.

All the reunion consisted of was getting together in a private room of a local resturaunt/club for 3 hours and eating pizza. She didn't feel it was worth driving 2.5 hours for that, and frankly I don't blame her.

My 10-year will be in 3 years. I'm not sure if I will go or not. A lot depends on where I'll be then. Last year our high school closed down and we had a farewell assembly which was a reunion of sorts. Not a lot of people attended but it was still pretty fun.

On a side note I was in the closet in high school. My ex-girlfriend is still one of my best friends. We have a unofficial pact that if we're both still single in 3 years and we both decide to go we will be each other's "dates"!

There's virtually no way I'd even bother to. Almost everyone I'd ever have wanted to make contact with then is my friend on facebook, so what's the point, really? I don't even really consider most of us really friends anymore, and don't really care about where most have gone in life. I guess I just don't feel any sort of desire for it.

I don't know, though. I have until 2015, but I doubt my mind will change before then.
