Are Hades and Zeus brothers?
According to some sources(and the TV series), they are brothers so why wasn't it brought up in the movie?

shareAccording to mythology, they are. I have no idea why it isn't mentioned in the film.
According to ancient Greek mythology; Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades were brothers, and after they won the war with the Titans, they drew lots. Zeus got the sky, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the Underworld.
And yes, it actually is referenced in the film. It's when Hades comes to the party celebrating Hercules' birth, and Zeus greets Hades as his "brother."
It was actually very common in the myths for the gods to have war with their relatives, and it actually made the whole thing more dramatic.
I re-watched the party scene and Zeus did not greet Hades as his "brother". Hades did refer to the Titans as his brothers, though.
shareAll right. I haven't seen the movie since I was forced to watch it in high school for mythology class. *gags* That happened to be one of only 4 times I watched that horror.
shareAnd Zeus's wife Hera was their sister, and Hades's wife Persephone was his niece! And not only did Zeus Almighty marry his own sister, he raped her and forced her to marry him because she didn't want to marry her own brother!
Monotheism really took the fun out of religion, I tell you.
Maybe they don’t make them brothers so there would be less of an obvious comparison between Hades/Hercules and Scar/Lion King since they are both evil uncles of the prince protagonist.
