Most visually stunning film ever in my opinion, The Fountain. Love this film beyond words. Obviously Great Expectations, I also really love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for interesting visual effects. And seriously, kudos on The Pillow Book mention, I wondered if I was the only person who loved that one. :)
shareAh, The fountain blew me away, bozh as a story and as cinematography.
I wanna also add all Leone movies to the list.
Women are like deer - You can't just charge in, you gotta stalk 'em...
Danny Boyle's Sunshine (2007)
shareAcross the Universe; Totally Mesmerizing! :)
Life is precious, and it’s our own - not any god’s.
"Moulin Rouge, the movie is majestic in the visual aspect!"
yeah, but this one, as well as many of the others mentioned are computer animated in a big percentage, if not entirely. I think the original poster was leaning more towards the use of real imagery... I don't know if I'm right but this is my feeling.
I agree...Marie Antoinette had a weak story but was Gorgeous to look at...and listen to. :)
Actually "Great Expectations" has a little CGI too. The dilapidated mansion is really the John Ringley Museum in Sarasota florida...and it's a beautiful home with beautiful furnishings. The image where it was overgrown and falling down was computered animated. :)
The director ...Alfonso Cuaron...seems to use the color green a lot in his films...which I like. He also directed "A Little Princess" (1995)...which is a magical film. :)
In saying that... the movie "Ray" has a lot of green through out the film too...which is another very good movie.
But thinking of imagery...my first thought is "What Dreams May Come" (1990)...it is a work of art.
Another movie with some wonderful art is "Where the Heart Is" (1990). The story is entertaining enough...but it's worth seeing...at least once... for the unique art. :)
Movies that I like that have beautiful scenery ...or are simply wonderful to look at...or are visually unique ...are...
