Best Scene?

In my opinion the best scene is the last one, when they do the last striptease.
What do you think?

I guess that's the best scene with Gaz attempting to have a striping show in front of his son Nathan and Loomper.

reply

To me the best - you can hardly call it a scene, just a tiny moment - is when Nathan has gone off in the car with his Mum and stepdad, leaving Gaz desolate on the pavement. Gerald puts his arm around Gaz's shoulder - clumsily, awkward as most British males are with any display of emotion, but just wanting to comfort him. Gaz shrugs him off instantly, but the point is made.

Oh, and Gaz and Dave getting the giggles at the funeral. "There's nowt so queer as folk!"

reply

it has to be when the guys are in line and hotstuff come on and they start dancing and doing their routine. gotta love that scene!!

reply

i agree love that that scene its fantastic

reply

There aren't any not good scenes...

But the ones i loved the best are - at Gerald's house, when they're taking their clothes off for the first time, and again when they're on the sunbeds ''anti wrinkle cream there may be, but anti fat bastard cream, there is none!''

also - the police station scene ''Does your daddy dance infront of you often?''

and the final scene...

Everything!

I have a plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel

reply

Gerald - "Oi it says no smoking up there!"
Gaz - "I, and it say *beep* job club up there but when was the last time you saw one of those walk in."

Dave - "Well if you times £10 by a thousand you got....... well, a lot of money"

The final strip scene is one of the most uplifting cinema experiences I have ever had.

The first time I saw it I could not stop smiling!

reply

THE WHOLE MOVIE IS FILLED WITH GREAT SCENES. IT`S HARD TO PICK ONE.

reply

Agree with all the scenes mentioned. Here's another one:

When Mark Addy and his wife have that confrontation toward the end where she finds his stuff and thinks he's having an affair and he confesses to her about the stripper plan, and then says he quit because, "who would want to see this dance?" and she says so tenderly, "I would."

Then in the performance scene, when he takes off his shirt and they show her proud reaction, I had tears in my eyes.

'Look at me Jeanie, who wants to see this dance?'

'Me Dave, I do.

And while they are lining up to sign on, and start dancing. Classic I love this film.

reply

I totally agree with the "look at me Jeanie who wants to see this dance ? Me Dave I do".

It's really moving, among all the funniness.

reply

I loved that bit!

The last time I saw this film was at the pictures the week it came out, but I remember laughing so hard I cried when the're stuck on the car in the canal, and the bloke walks past and they just nod and smile and say something like "Allright?" "Aye, not s'bad". I just thought It was so true to life!

reply

I thought it was funny when dave wraps himself in cling wrap and eats a candy bar!

reply

I thinkt he final scene is certainly the classic moment of the film. It's what the entire film led up to, it was the big pay-off.

But the scene where they're all waiting in line at the bank (it was the bank, wasn't it) and they start dancing...That was the highlight of the film. Very British.

It's the kind of scene that leaves you laughing for five minutes. You start of smiling, then you chuckle, then you're in tears. It's a great moment.

...beliefs, we need to be reminded, are beliefs precisely because they are not facts.

that and the one at the unemployment office...I downloaded both of the song after watching the movie

reply

all i ahve too say is gnomes

reply

Gnomes indeed! Love his little face... and Mark Addy's too!

reply

I can't believe no one has mentioned these...

- Where the guy tries to run up the wall like what he saw in Singn' in the Rain.
-When he does it later at the end because he's bored.
- The 'Oh shut up saggy tits' scene.
-The 'wedgies on parade bring your own microscope' scene.
- The touching scene where Lomper's mum is trying to climb the stairs. "I thought you where gone," always leaves me in tears.
- THE GNOMES!! Those were the best!!

reply

no contest for me: the LAST scene -- the actual dance performance! every time it gets to that part.. i am excited, anticipating. i luv it! }:-P

reply

the best scene is when they are in the ''job centre'' and they start dancing hot stuff.
This movie should be in Top #250

reply

I think either in the bank when they start dancing to everyone, or the very first scene in the steel factory and on the car roof - it's sooo hilarious!

It makes me laugh everytime when they're watching flashdance, and Dave is taking it seriously that she's a welder. "I hope she dances better than she welds, look at that! Her mix is all to pot!......those joints won't hold *beep* all" etc.

Brilliant.

reply

I love their vernacular..."She's nifty on her pins!"

I don't know how anyone can't understand their slang or their accents. It contributed to the charm of the movie. I LOVE this movie!

El Paso, Texas...ever heard of it?

reply

There are so many to choose from! My personal favourite is, perhaps, their first pathetic attempt at stripping, and then the the little kid says: "That were crap".

reply

Most hilarious scene ever was their first dress rehearsal in front of Horse's family. Watch Gaz and Guy, it's HILARIOUS. And then watching Horse's family bust out laughing. That scene itself deserves an Oscar.
