Do Americans like this film????

I love this film, but as most Brits know that Americans have a very different sense of humour (not prejudice in anyway my Aunty is American).

Just this film is made up of very British humour and was just curious to see if Americans enjoyed it as much as us Brits?

I do love this movie! But I can't understand some of what is said because my English is so different from their English in the movie. I have that problem with a lot of British/English movies though.

Love it. British humor is lost on too many, but I think it's one of your greatest exports, from a country that has many. Cheers!

I thought it was tremendously funny but I also feel that most American comedies are rather dumbed down and far too obvious.

This film was a smash when it came out in 1997 in the USA, and it continues to be fondly remembered, as well as winning and being nominated for multiple Oscars.

I'd say it is quite well liked by Americans, yes.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.

Americans have no sense of humour

My family thinks it's hilarious. We don't like most of the American comedies at all. Either movies or the television sitcoms. I actually watch mostly British shows on Netflix, comedies and crime dramas. They are so much better than their American versions. And the acting is so much better.

Well, I can't speak for the nation as a whole, but I think it's hysterical. I read enough contemporary British fiction to understand most of it and to be honest, what happened to Sheffield happened to Allentown and Bethlehem, PA, and that part's way too easy to understand.

Neither British nor American here either, and I like this movie very much. If 10 is the highest grade possible I give it a 10, the director another 10, the producers another 10, the music department another 10, the casting department another 10, Nathan the kid another 10, all the actors and actresses a collective 10, the movie crew everyone everything a collective 10. If I miss anyone/anything, by default you/it get another 10 too .
As far as my favorite comedy goes, it is the best on par with the Rick's funeral episode in Northern Exposure.

American here....love it! :-)

I'm Canadian, and I love it too!

In fact, it's one of my favourite movies ever. When it first came out, I went to see it several times. Last year, I saw the musical stage show when it played in my city.

I can't believe it only has a 7.2 rating here!

I'm French and I love it!
I have watched it both in English and French (and I definitely prefer the original version!).
I don't really think it's a matter of being British or not.
It's just the way the characters are and how they interact that makes this film a great one.
