Absolutely hilarious movie! Awesome cast! So many quotes that my friends and i never get tired of. I know saying that it is better than tommy boy would be a sin but i laugh a lot more. Way better than Black Sheep or Beverly Hills Ninja. One of my all time favorite comedies! I don't see how it deserves a 4.5???? Am i the only one that liked this movie?

shareI watched this movie after a couple of others by Christopher Guest, and was stunned at how bad this was compared to his other work. 'Waiting For Guffman', 'Best In Show', 'A Mighty Wind' and 'For Your Consideration', they're all 100x better than this. this is really 'Police Academy' level humour, so awful.
shareI agree. The only reason I watched this is because of Christopher Guest. This is unbelievably bad and boring. Guest must've done this film to pay off his house or boat.
All those other C. Guest movies are good for sure but this is a totally different style of comedy. i can see why a fan of his other movies would not like Almost Heroes. Its crude, stupid, slapstick that's way better when you watch it with buddies over a couple beers. When i rent "a mighty wind" or any of the others i am expecting something way different. For my money though I think I will always prefer farley-type movies with more gags per minute.

I really don't like doing this, seriously, but I gave this movie a 9 to lift its rating.... and I honestly don't do that very often at all, even with movies that I feel a particular affinity toward... its just that in this instance, a 4 seems so incredibly low....

This movie has a charm. It has a good and interesting idea, it has a sense of humor, it can laugh at itself and all kinds of clichés and still keep a sort of 'serious tone', when it comes to danger - you really do think something terrible can happen at any point, and feel like the surroundings are actually dangerous.
Some of the jokes are funny, some of them are not, and a lot of them are a bit below the belt.
Great acting performances and strange happenings lift it up.
But then, having said all that, the movie comes up a little short, when it comes to satisfactory story, most of the jokes and humor, and basically feels a bit lackluster.
It's a good effort, but doesn't quite reach the mark, can't quite elevate itself up to the par, it stumbles and falls on its face just before the goal.
The result is a bit boring movie with pretty much nothing you haven't seen before, and the rest is quite predictable - some parts are even repetitive.
It's not a bad movie, but it doesn't quite achieve being a 'good movie', either. So as charming as it can be, it's just a little bit boring and lackluster and you don't really want to watch it again for a long while after you've seen it.
I saw it once in a hotel (of sorts), and had fond memories of it, but when I rewatched it, I realized it's not all that good, really.
Hence the low score.

Sorry, but of all the Chris Farley movies I have (about 7), this is the worst. Chris is great as usual, but so much of the movie is just too stupid! Or should I say the characters are too stupid - especially Pratt - I kept hoping someone would shoot him and throw his brainless carcass in the river.
