What the HELL was that bear's problem?!

Geez! It's not like there's no other food sources around for him to live off!! How else would he have survived that long in the wilderness?!

What exactly did Charles and the others do to piss him off so much?!

Or was he just an unhinged psycho?

Goody. This is a movie that has been in the back of my brain for 2 weeks.

I remember it being just okay at the time...

Thanks!

Definitely, on the hunt now.

The bear was a man-eater. Plus, probably there is a lack of food that far north in the winter. If it was winter I can't remember. I doubt the bear had a grudge or was pissed off. He just caught there scent and hunted them. That's what bears do.

I think the idea was that it was winter and grizzlies are smart. I think the name of the bear was "Bart" or "Bart the Bear." My husband and I watched this movie several times because the scenery is so beautiful. I really think the movie was about man vs nature, not so much about class themes or anything.

The bear was just an obstacle to rear its ugly head whenever the script called for an action beat or someone to be killed off. I think we know who :(.

He was misunderstood and just wanted a bear hug

Maybe he was just sick of Baldwins BS

Sometimes you eat the BAR and sometimes, well, the BAR eats you

He was a Man-Eater Bear. Thats what they call bears that have tasted human flesh, they are more dangerous because they see people as viable food sources and they ENJOY how human flesh tastes!

To give you perspective, imagine you have been eating fish all your life and then suddenly you figure out how to get tasty bacon and pork chops! Fish would never be the same, and you wouldnt turn down the chance for more bacon and pork chops!
