Favorite scene?

Itfs surprising that no one has yet started a message board for this incredibly beautiful film, while other WKW films such as Chungking Express and In the Mood of Love are getting a certain number of posts.

There's lots of things that I'd like to talk about this film, but I just donft know where to begin.
So allow me to start the very first thread with this simple question, what is your favorite scene?

Mine would be when,

- Leslie takes Tony out for a walk in the rain.
- Tony suffering from cold is asked to cook for Leslie and gets mad, but hefs seen in the kitchen in the next moment.

- Two are dancing in the kitchen.
- Tony tries to come up with something for the tape recorder but fails and breaks into tears instead.
- any scenes with that beautiful gIguacu Fallsh lamp. I really want to get one for myself!
- the city of hong kong is viewed upside-down.

Anyone?

The scene where he's tracing his lover's eyelid with his fingers, and startles back when he turns in his sleep.

My favorite scene was when Leslie comes to Tony's apartment after he is beaten up and hugs him at the door. It was just beautiful. And how tony holds him... confused but holds him.
Also, i like the scene where Tony punches the mirror.

I really didn't know what to think of the movie, if i liked it or not.
But it was a great portrayal of a self destructive relationship.

The entire film is haunting has a ton of moments that really resonated with me. I say haunting because I watched it two nights ago and certain images and moments have been going through my head constantly ever since. Such powerful stuff.

Some of my favorite moments/scenes:

Opening sex scene.

"I had no regrets till I met you. Now my regrets could kill me!"

When Leslie comes to see Tony at the bar and he is battered and bruised and Tony lights Leslie's cigarette with his own.

The kiss on the neck atop the roof.

Tony's caressing of Leslie while he is asleep.

The dance between the boys in the kitchen.

Tony's crying with the recorder.

Leslie's bawling and hugging of Tony's blanket at the end.

I don't know if I've been as emotionally haunted by as much as I've been by this one. It's certainly shot up to one my favorite films ever.

Most of my favorite scenes were between Fai and Chang. I loved watching their friendship develop - I hope they ended up together at some point. Fai deserves a nice, stable, healthy relationship. I felt so bad for him throughout the movie.

The best scenes generally appear in the second half.

I liked those little moments of tenderness.

And this melancholic sequence:

There are many many beautiful moments, but my favorites are

- When they are standing in the entrance of the club, you can hear the music from inside, and Po lights his cigarette on Fai's - so much depth in their faces and movements. Then the smoke trails into the air while the refrain starts - magical.

- Fai crying into the recorder.

- Bloody Po Wing falling into Fai's arms, Fai's expression and the way he hugs him.

Not sure why I'm here, answering a 14 year old post about a movie I watched 20 years ago.... but for what it's worth; the scene that has stayed with me all these years is the upside-down Hong Kong. Movie magic.

It's probably about time for a re-watch of "Happy Together". I watch "In the Mood for Love" 2-3 times every year so it's probably about time I branched out.
