Favorite scene?

Itfs surprising that no one has yet started a message board for this incredibly beautiful film, while other WKW films such as Chungking Express and In the Mood of Love are getting a certain number of posts.

There's lots of things that I'd like to talk about this film, but I just donft know where to begin.
So allow me to start the very first thread with this simple question, what is your favorite scene?

Mine would be when,

- Leslie takes Tony out for a walk in the rain.
- Tony suffering from cold is asked to cook for Leslie and gets mad, but hefs seen in the kitchen in the next moment.

- Two are dancing in the kitchen.
- Tony tries to come up with something for the tape recorder but fails and breaks into tears instead.
- any scenes with that beautiful gIguacu Fallsh lamp. I really want to get one for myself!
- the city of hong kong is viewed upside-down.

Anyone?

easy.

-the aerial panorama of the falls to the sad tango
-when the friend gets down to the lighthouse at the end of the earth
-when tony leung is sitting on the train at the end as it makes its way through taipei... to the "happy together" music.

My fav scene is one that nobody has mentioned:

- When Lai Yiu-fai and Chang said goodbye (they hold).

I love them together!! Lai Yiu-fai does would be happy with Chang.

reply

Ahh so many...

-The falls towards the end with the water hitting Tony's face.
-The changing shot from Tony on the street to Cheung smoking in the car.
-The little "Happy Together" montage at the end.
-The scene where Cheung is remembering the slowdance while dancing with someone else.
-Cheung crying in the apartment at the end.

These would in my opinion have to be my favorites...

My final breath is gone...

when Chang asked Lai (Tony Leung) to say something in his tape recorder and Lai says nothing but cries. I think many viewers can empathize with times of lonliness.

- when Chang is at the falls at the end and plays the tape and the camera is flying all around. amazing footage.

- when Lai calls up his father, very sad from his perspective and his dad's.

- when Lai goes back home at the end, I'm rooting for him.

Lai breaks down while clutching Cheng's tape recorder to his face.

It's gets me every time. That's true love he's letting go. Everyone who watches that scene must relate in someway from their own personal experiences.

There are many, many haunting scenes in this remarkable film. The most emblematic scene for me is the final one, when one of them finally does get to Iguazú Falls and all he can do is cry.

He has attained the Holy Grail but, without love, it is empty.

This is suchhhh a poetic, authentic and engaging film.

My fav. scene ought to be Po-Wing is hurt and hurries to Fai's house and when Fai sees him, he can't help but pities him and hug him like he is the one meant to be him. It's just SO touching and melting.

And then the next one is when Fai cooks for Wing with the blanket covered. It reminds me of Notebook's potagnonist in the last scene though. lol.

My favorite scene is when they are dancing tango in the kitchen of the hotel.

Well, sum up all the posting here and you merely got the whole movie altogether

But what can I say? It's all very beautiful and mesmerizing scene you found in this movie. Until now I still can't believe that Tony and Leslie would do the love making scene so intense and explicitly.
