The funniest parts...

I have to say that one of the funniest parts in any movie I have ever seen is that part where the guy is auditioning and he's like...

"I'm going to do a scene from Raging Bull"

"You *beep* my wife?!"

"What? How could..."

"You *beep* my wife?"

And with the cut to Corky with his hands over his mouth!

Ahh...that was classic.

And I love that Sheila's bangs are always in the same style no matter what her hairdo is. I mean, even in the posters for the previous community theatre projects her bangs are the same! Oh, I laughed and and laughed.

Also in one of the scenes from their play when Ron and Sheila are supposed to be talking or whispering and they're like "hub bub, huh bub."

And of course, not to mention, "We consider ourselves bi-coastal, if you consider the Mississippi River a coast."

"Don't you rest on OUR camp Daniel Potter! We women are just as strong and resilient as you MEN!"

-"HA HA HA! I do believe y'ar, Rebecca, I do believe y'ar!"

"calaFORNIA will be a sight for THESE weary EYES."

ALSO:

"What did your keen and perceptive eyes behold."

Just about every scene in this movie is hilarious, but one that hasn't been mentioned yet is at the end of the play when the old man/narrator, jumps up and shouts "I love America!" Then he rips off his hat and underneath he has some sort of ridiculous looking American flag scull cap on his head! His make up during the play is great too!

When Johnny's out of the play and Corky has to wear his costume, the dresser is trying to get the zip up on the pants, saying - "Johnny's a different body type..." and Corky's writhing away to help and says - "well I'm trying to commit to one side..."

Dr Pearl's audition, at the end when he is running
out of breath for his last word - air - he motions to the pianist to wind it up but has to interrupt the note to take a breath anyway....

After the huge rejection - Corky lying devastated in his pink bath, shower cap on - and that hilarious happy music playing in the background

So many funny bits

- one DARLING bit I love is the little girl in the audience that gasps when the alien comes out of the "storage feed bin" the look on her face makes my heart melt - SO GORGEOUS.

Everything that involves Corky - Christopher Guest was hilarious! His mannerism, the way he looks at Alex, the "Hunting" deleted scene (with the unbelievable red hunting costume and the schnauser line), the end of the "Shirley Temple" deleted scene, etc. The guy is so talented - I actually had no ideea that the Corky character was played by Guest (although I had seen "This Is Spinal Tap") until credits started rolling! The entire cast was terrific and the movie is a gem :)

Dr. Pearl bowling. You can tell he's so upset by everything. I love Levy in this film! He's so adorable how he's totally, finally found something he's passionate about.

I did leave the stove on!
No... I turned the stove off.

I don't remember the line exactly but when the historian is telling the story about the founding of Blaine and he says that Blane was leading a group of settlers to the Pacific. Blaine gets tired of walking one night so he tells everyone that they had made it and to smell the ocean air and in the morning they didn't see the ocean so he "convinced them it was low tide for awhile."

"Books are awfully decorative, don't you think?"

favorite scene was when they were at the dinner table and the drinking wife bringing up some inappropriate discussions, notice all of the leading cast are all actors usually seen in smaller parts of 1980's comedies. the leading lady dropped her dry in the scene with heavy make up. what a short flick, end credits started after 1h 10min.

on a path taken at the crossroad,
picked up flowers and gold,
waved as i went,
don't you wish you were on the same way,
as i start to lose sight of your road,
looking over your way with the binoculars are new cars,
and the path i chose noone any longer seem to roll on,
over years driven long and all left here now is empty and dark,
and homecoming is so far,
since i crashed from the crossroad i took off.

The final note of the overture is a sustained trumpet note, played while the same trumpeter is also playing the final crash of the bass drum.

The pharmacist watching the show so raptly.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"
