Uuuummm, Why is the rating so LOW???

Seriously, this is one of my favorite childhood movies, and every single person i know agrees with me. The score is unbelievable to me. Who is voting for the rating on this thing. The lowest possible rating I believe it should have is MAYBE a 7.8? It is on right now and I still am laughing. Bill Murray is hilarious, there are so many funny parts, Jordan is awesome...what is the deal.

i find it hilarious that people are saying this movie only exists to make money and promote merchandise.

NO *beep* !

advertising is in every film, and sometimes shoved down our throats or presented in a subtle way, regardless it is always there.

to be honest, I watched the youtube video or that nerd criticizing it and I can't believe he gets this picky over a movie based around the *beep* looney tunes.

I loved it when I saw it and still find it to be entertaining. It is appealing to kids and people that do love basketball. Seeing all the NBA stars was great when I first saw it, and no I wasn't expecting grade A acting.

the rating is ridiculous in my opinion some people man

Completely hated this movie. I'm not a Michael Jordan fan anyway, but the plot was Looney Toons characters kiss Jordan's ass. Everything is Jordan Jordan Jordan. Just overkill.

And the humor is totally dumbed down for little kids. Some of you say "Well it was aimed at kids, not adults!" Well look at kid movies like Shrek, Toy Story and Monsters Inc, they inject a little intelligent adult humor in it. They're also cleverly written. Space Jam was not!

What's wrong with this cartoon movie is what's wrong with many cartoons these days - dumbed down! I can tell when a kid's cartoon was made by the dialogue. I can't put a finger on it, but I can tell right away, if the dialogue is dumbed down, chances are it mas made in the 90s to present.

I proudly gave this garbage a 1.

This movie deserves it's rating, it's as blatant a corporate constructed movie as you will find, from the product placement, soundtrack and using Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley etc. It's essential a 90 minute commercial.

I thought the Pulp Fiction reference was pretty amusing.

I loved Space Jam as kid(still do at 21) and even i like Kazaam with Shaq,in these kinds of movies i am not expecting a James Cameron or Steven Spielberg masterpiece. There are kids movies that made more money and got better reviews than Space Jam,a lot of those are good but not really great,I like the Shrek but honestly the series is not that great.Space Jam is honestly the perfect idea for making money

I use to own this town Now my life's been turned upside down Just a phase I'm going through

Complaining it's a toy commercial or such as one of the animazi's typically arguments. Where somehow something being made with intention to sell something makes it bad and inferior to ones that supposedly don't. Which is as stupid an argument as it sounds.

Marketing is been in everything since people realized if people like this entertainment so much they will buy things besides the product itself and then later realized we can design something with the idea for the merchandise as the preset.

I sincerely doubt much of anyone has ever been bothered besides the vocal minority on the internet. Lots of successful movies and cartoons over the years had roots in selling toys. And we clearly see today those shows and toys sell pretty well, or at the very least well enough to be remembered. So yeah the average person never really cared and still don't.

But simply put if you hate something because it's marketed to sell you something....you must not like much at all. Unless your a hypocrite. Which i think are too typical traits belonging to people who make such statements.

Gamefaqs has a far worse population than IMDB

Agreed, but most are less obvious about it. Space Jam's throws together a weak premise just to have MJ and Bugs on the screen. To be fair, I saw this movie in theater with my little sister and we both hated it. At the time the soundtrack was all over the radio and music video channels. It became a blatant product more then a movie.

Could not disagree more. This has been on HBO lately, watched it a few times, love it just as much as when I was a kid. I don't know what exactly you're expecting from a movie like this, but if you find this movie "intolerable," you did something wrong.

Because people are stuck in the past

reply

You say that like it's a bad thing

NO! WIRE!! HANGERS!!! EVER!!!!

reply

Well, it kinda is. A grand majority of people who live in the past tend to fear new opportunities and resort to pretending they're still children, going as far as never leaving their parent's home and simply not being social.

reply

That's just your opinion

NO! WIRE!! HANGERS!!! EVER!!!!

reply

Do you know about any old schoolers who've managed to live their lives outside of their childhood?

reply

You're basically forcing your beliefs.

NO! WIRE!! HANGERS!!! EVER!!!!

reply

I'm just asking you to provide examples. That's all.
