Tomato Sandwiches

When Harriet the Spy came out I remember that every girl in my grade (I think it would be second) wanted to be a spy and ate tomato sandwiches everyday at lunch (personally I still like tomato sandwiches). Does anyone else remember anything like this?

reply

LOL I was 7 when the movie came out and I was totally obsessed with it. I would like do everything Harriet did. I spied on my neighbors all summer and ate tomato sandwiches.

I got this movie for Christmas when I was six-ish, and I still love it! I never did eat a tomato and mayo sandwich (tomato and creamcheese, though, is delicious!) I love the scene in the crazy garden where Harriet, Janie, and Sport swirl around in all those colors and swig from the soda bottles. I've always wanted to do that!

I wonder if michelle trachtenberg liked the tomatoe sandwiches and thats why they put it in there or if she absolutely dispised it like all of us. hahaha I know that she hates peanut butter...

Yeah, I remember I wanted to be a spy as well. I was NEVER a fan of tomatoes or tomato sandwiches, so that never happened. A neighbor girl down the street and I would always ride our bikes around with our "spy supplies" and notepad, spying through people's fences, looking for suspicious activity. I still have that notebook in my desk somewhere. It was a compostion notebook. My mom thought it was cute...lol. I was probably in 4th grade and I remember all summer we would ride around, looking for clues.

I was a bit old when this movie came out, but my little sister got a composition book and spied on the neighbors. I didn't do that, but I did eat tomato sandwiches for a while. I remember being disappointed because the bread got so soggy. I remember wondering what Harriet saw in it.

I eat tomato and mayo sandwichs all of the time. I don't think that I got the idea from the movie though. I mostly like it because I don't eat lunch meat.
